That’s a whole lot of word salad to say you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

Kentucky has 8 national championships in basketball all time. How many do you say Alabama has in football?
This thread was not about Alabama, but I guess it is now.

Because they were all big names at the time?

Basically Kentucky basketball is everthing bammers *think* their football program is, but with less made up NCs
Oh please Both are great programs and have legit claims to being 5he greatest overall in their respective sports. This kind of statement is what takes the Rant dipshit meter to 11.

You are right this isn't about bama.
It's about Alabama's insecurities surrounding their basketball coach.
You miss the old wimp, the good wimp, you don't want new wimp.

Could you imagine how much shite would be thrown here it Alabama had only won one national championship in football in the last 25 years?
Complete apples and oranges. We just saw a very good Auburn team get bounced in the first round while an Alabama team that won like 4 of their last 10 go to the Final Four.

Kentucky had to win the NC, not be voted in to face some other supposed "elite" team of the year for those 25 years
So your dipshit take is that no CFB championships are legit? Will it take a 64 team tourney to legitimize one for you!

Here is the Cliff’s notes.
Kentucky has won one national championship in the last 25 years. Three in the last 45 years.
Over the last 25 years they have not been a top 5 program. They have been a borderline top ten program.
Since Rupp no coach has been able to sustain the success their fan base demands.
At this point they have more in common with UCLA than Kansas, UNC, UConn, or Duke.
So considering all that, why are they the top job in basketball? And if they are the best job in the country, why would they hire the third best head coach in the SEC?

Oh no, I get what you think you’re saying. It’s just wildly incorrect and really poor revisionist history of a program that’s won 8 National Championships with 5 different coaches.

You have been here long enough to realize what happened last year is considered living in the past. So what happened in the1950’s is living in the Paleozoic Era. Kentucky is the best college basketball program of all time. But like fellow top five program UCLA, much of that is built upon a foundation constructed over 50 years ago.
So your answer as to why they are the top job today is that they are the top program all time? If so, fair enough. You could have just said that.
My point was that if Kentucky really is the top job, why have they not hired more established big name coaches their last three hires. Instead, Kentucky hired a a coach that was previously at Tulsa and Georgia, then one that was at UTEP and Texas A&M, and then one that was at UMass and Memphis. They had all shown success; but not at top level schools with all the bright lights, added pressure, and additional demands of a Kentucky.
Why does Kentucky not hire an established successful coach from another top 10 program who has proven they can succeed on a comparable stage?

Probably for the same reason that Alabama football didn't.

I question why so many here still seem to believe Kentucky is THE top job. A top ten job? Sure. The top job?

This is stupid and you should feel bad for actually posting it and showing everyone how stupid you are.

And Tubby had a very good resume when he came to Kentucky. That’s some serious revisionist history pretending that wasn’t a good hire.
Agreed 100%
I don't think Kentucky is the top job in basketball but it is in the SEC

Kentucky could hire Nate Oats at any moment in time, it would take little to no effort
Yeah I don't like this as a Bama fan. I don't think he goes but anything could happen just like calipari taking his talents to Ozarks

Think bama as a hot job in 1998-2006 and bama now are 2 completely different things. For one Alabama now has reinvested which has made other sports relevant. Last time I was on campus there was constant building and renovating.
Hope they keep Coleman. Enjoyed every game win or lose in that place. My dad goes down memory lane with the shows he saw there. Fun times!

Because the people who count (the coaches) believe that they are.

If Kentucky is the Top Job In College Basketball Why have their last three coaching hires been Tubby Smith, Billy Gillespie, and John Calipari?
Ah yes, another fine product of a quality Tuscaloosa education.

Alabama is probably the fifth best job in the SEC. Kentucky is far and away number one. Arkansas is two. Then it becomes a pick em as to how you would rank LSU, Tennessee, Texas, Florida and Alabama. If you put more weight on all time wins and conference championships, Alabama would rank near the top of those teams. If you put more weight on NCAA Final Fours and National Championships they would rank near the bottom. So they are probably somewhere in the middle, around number 5.
It will be interesting to see how the Kentucky search goes. Many here have suggested that Kentucky can pick whoever they want. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I believe there are three threads now on the first page of the rant saying Oats is the guy.
Again though, if Kentucky is the best job in basketball, why would they settle for him?
