You nailed it.
There are a couple of teams in the SEC west I'd like to see lose everything, every time, in every sport.
Most of the time I am not aware of what is going on with Mizzou, and it is still weird to me that they are on our schedule.
The idea that we are in some kind of rivalry with them is ridiculous. It has a corporate sponsor and a terrible trophy.

They should be a rival of yours.
It would be more like West Virginia or someone you have zero history with and semi-close proximity to joined the league--a team that nobody believes or feels belongs in the SEC. Then they make a cheap-looking shitty trophy for that game, and you're supposed to get hype.
Also nailed it.

Arkansas doesn't have an rivals.
That died when they left the SWC.
Although playing Tejas semi-regularly again will be sweet..

Does Arkansas have more history with Missouri or LSU?

LSU by a lot. There were some exciting and meaningful games over the years.

They are on the schedule because Arkansas has no rivalry with any SEC teams.
Ole Miss is the closest one but they have State.
LSU is second but they never viewed Arkansas as a rival.
So Missouri joined and they don't have any history with any of the SEC teams.
All the seats were taken in the rivalry bus except a few spots. Aggies and Missouri got on the bus.
LSU didn't care for the boot and decided to sit with the aggies and pick on them.
Arkansas was puzzled as why LSU left and Missouri took the seat. Now both are misfits.
This is why I wanted Texas to join the SEC because I felt the desire to get better was gone once Arkansas they joined the SEC.
They have been wandering in the desert for 30 plus years.

By comparison Arkansas played Missouri 5 times before they joined. It's not even remotely close.
Not only do we have less history with Missouri, the history is next to nonexistent. It would be exactly like calling Oklahoma Arkansas' rival now that they're in the same conference. It makes zero sense at all. Just some out of touch rich dudes that think being in close proximity is all you need to call something a rivalry so they can slap an insurance sponsor title on the game for that extra ad revenue.

I’ve always enjoyed the Arkansas-LSU series. That should be the Thanksgiving weekend game.

Its a fact dewbie. Its not a competitive series thus far.
Missouri is 7-2 vs Arkansas since joining the SEC. All time not much better.

Yet you're the one of the two of us that can't approach the thread with any real intention to discuss the topic.
Just more bad trolling. It's ho-hum at this point.

Such is the nature of this board. I'm supposed to say something about a dropped foul ball, and then you're supposed to call me a mustard-throwing hillbilly.

I said the series wasn't competitive, which it's not, as to the lack of intensity to any form of rivalry for either side. Thats not trolling.
You got upset and took a personal shot at me.
I'm sorry the facts upset you.

quote:Definitely. Couldn't possibly be that we never played and have no reason to even consider each other rivals or view the game any differently than any other conference game on the schedule. It's definitely the fact that we we've been down. Lord knows Missouri only forms rivalries with the most prestigious of football programs that are always competitive.

Yeah, because pointing out, as a matter of fact, the series isn't gaining traction because it's not competitive is met with this post by you:

I have been around for over a decade. Always had good back and forth with the old school Hog posters. You're not in the ballpark of understanding the subtlety of the fun back "in the day"

No joke. Have you seen how bad these teams have been over that stretch with the exception of mizzou’s first couple of years?
This has been a bad series between 2 mediocre, at best, teams.
It’s like bragging about beating Vandy, no offense to Vandy but….,
Hopefully both teams can improve to make this game mean something other than bowl eligibility. Or maybe it can go away altogether.

Either one would be fine with me at this point. It's definitely forced on both schools.
