I look forward to it. My buddy is a Mizzou fan. Who ever is home that year hosts the get together.

It seems like both fanbases have reasons as to why it's not a rivalry, yet it's viewed that way from an outside perspective.

That trophy looks like a fats guy’s midsection. Couldn’t be a better symbol of this rivalry.

This applies to Georgia-Tennessee as well FYI
I disagree. Tennessee and Georgia are big-time rivals. I don't think y'all hate us as much as you hate Auburn and Florida, but you definitely hate us. And we hate you barking bastards, too.
Embrace the rivalry. It's good for ya, my friend.

who is your biggest SEC rival?
I don't consider any SEC team to be a rival. The biggest SEC game to Gamecock fans is undoubtedly Georgia, even if we're only 4th or 5th on their list.

If it were competitive, it would be more interesting. As it is, it's one sided strongly in Mizzou's favor.

And look at the records of these teams during that stretch. I can’t believe anyone would watch the game.
Especially when it’s at mizzou where the camera work makes it look like a high school game. Y’all need to clean that up.

It should be more of a rivalry. Since Mizzou joined the conference, they've won 7 of the last 9. Part of the reason seems to be that Mizzou prioritize winning the game more than Arkansas. The Hogs need to turn up their intensity for the contest.
Do you know how fricking stupid this sounds? As competitive as the SEC is where EVERY game counts If there is an SEC coach who doesn’t prioritize EVERY frickING SEC matchup, he should be summarily fired!

I’m not going to dispute you on this. I think it is evolving as a legitimate rivalry.
But when I reflect on my own personal feelings, every time MU gets eliminated from the NCAA roundball tourney, I feel like I still have a dog in the fight (whoever is playing KU). I don’t feel that way with ARKY. Sometimes I actually root for them.
That would NEVER happen with Kansas. It’s gonna take some time with the Hogs.

The campuses are three hours apart.
The campuses of Arkansas and Missouri are 5 hours apart so they're fairly close as well. Plus your two states border each other, just like South Carolina and North Carolina.

It would be more like West Virginia
That's a terrible comparison. West Virginia is two complete states away from South Carolina and the campuses are 7.5 hours apart. Not even close to being the same.
quote:
NC State and South Carolina have met in football over 50 times
The bulk of the games between SC and NC State occurred before 1980. Most Gamecock fans nowadays don't recall those matchups.

Over the past 10 years by the time the Mizzou game came around Arkansas usually had nothing to play for and played like it. That’s no knock on Mizzou.
Truly think hog fans still have unwarranted higher expectations and after 4 losses nobody seems to care anymore.
By the time Arkansas gets to Mizzou they’ve played Bama, Auburn, LSU, aTm and Ole Miss…along with State and a TN, GA or FL from the East. Beat up, injured an ready to throw in the towel. Mizzou has played TN, GA and FL….and sees Arkansas as a much bigger game relatively.

I blame your media for this. It's just constant praise.

I dont know anyone who views it as a rivalry game honestly. Fan of Arkansas or not.
There are currently two'ish age groups of fans in Arkansas...
1) Older generation who grew up hating Texas, Ole Miss, aTm to an extent, and still view those, mainly Texas, as the Hogs rival.
2) Current generation who grew up with Arkansas playing LSU on Black Friday to end the season from 1992 - 2013. That game mattered a lot. Something like from 1998 - 2011 or so, the LSU/Arkansas game had a lot of say in who won the SEC West and went to Atlanta.
I think with Missouri, it is just really forced. When Arkansas came in to the SEC in 1992, it had a history with Ole Miss and LSU...to an extent Alabama from Sugar Bowls, Georgia and Tennessee from Cotton Bowls...but really nothing of significance with Missouri other than a couple of second rate bowl meetings in the Independence Bowl (which Arkansas won big) and the Cotton Bowl (which Missouri won big).
Prior to joining the league, there was a meaningful game with Ole Miss. The hatred was there so much, that the series was cancelled for a while in the 60's because of the amount of fights that broke out between the fans. With LSU, there were the bowl meetings and prior to that the annual meetings in Shreveport. The Ice Bowl in the 1947 Cotton Bowl that ended in a 0-0 tie. The 1966 Cotton Bowl that LSU won that ended the Hogs 22 game win streak and lost Arkansas its shot at back to back national titles...Then you add in being in the same division with both of those and its more of a natural feel for a rivalry than anything with Missouri.
