In the secondary sports Texas is a legit sports monster. They've got the population and funding to put great athletes out there for sports that most of country is barely willing to admit exist.

However, unlike the big sports, those secondary sports succeed at Texas because they don't have a sense of entitlement. They have to earn their wins. They can't just roll out of bed in the morning and be assured of a top 10 preseason ranking even if they've stunk on ice for the last couple of years.

Texas only has one real problem. Unfortunately that problem is Texas.

Solid point. Let's take a look at the big 3 sports in the 2022-23 sports season

Texas football - started preseason unranked and finished No. 25 (Arkansas started preseason No. 19 and finished unranked)

Texas basketball - started preseason ranked No. 12 and finished No. 5 (Arkansas started preseason No. 10 and finished No. 21)

Texas baseball - started preseason unranked and finished No. 14 (Arkansas started preseason No. 8 and finished No. 16)

Arkansas has many problems. Unfortunately, their biggest problem is that they're Arkansas

Here is what you will get when you meet them and beat them.

1) Academic smack
2) Overall sports program smack
3) money that their program generates (compared to yours) smack.

If you are still engaged in conversation and they get frustrated they will resort to the

4) Austin is better than Gainesville (or whatever town)
and finally the old reliable....
5) Texas is >... (insert state)

All the while you are staring at the Texas fans nostrils as they stand straight and tall with their Hook em'sign as the band is playing "The Eyes"... which they will do in your stadium even after you beat them.

The beauty of that is that they will expect Florida fans to be reverent while they are doing it.

Point of the thread was, Texas hasn’t been great in the B12 the past decade, right?

You started talking about App. St. as a deflection.

You convince yourself of a lot of things…lol

I guess the state of Mississippi would be an expert on how difficult it is to beat Texas Tech

It’s not about any of that. Texas and Oklahoma coming brought in the entire TV viewership from Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Missouri brought in the St Louis TV market. From that perspective, Virginia Tech or somebody from up there would be that next logical candidate because of the television market. It’s all about $$$$$$$

If you are so valuable, shouldn't the SEC teams be making more from your addition? What $$$$ value do you add, if it is all about money?

You just seem to be a bunch or arrogant loudmouths who bring no extra revenue to the conference members ...

Strong beta projection Ol' Marge.

Maybe we should add a few fake championships to our wall & run around blind in the desert screaming "we rich" while searching for that exclusive 2nd National Championship after 350 combined years of men's big 3 sports?

Ole Miss lost each of their last two bowl games to Baylor and Texas Tech. Neither of which were even close

Well, likely because in the first one, our starting QB got injured on the first drive. And the second one was in the worst 2nd half collapse of a season in our history thanks to no defense.

Who are "they"? I don't know a single fan who thinks we have been anything but garbage lately. Now if you're asking me what team you're most obsessed with? That would be us buy a landslide

The thread titles and the number of threads started by longhorn fans on tRant indicates an ignorance of the recent “garbage”.

Just a basic lack of awareness. (Aside from your awareness, of course)

Link? Most people correlate "modern CFB" with integration so post 1970 is the more reasonable time frame.

We were still playing one platoon football in the 1950s. It is most definitely not the modern era.

But the choice of 1950 makes sense for Longhorn fans as moving to the 1970s cuts out the DKR era.

Consistent coaching. Texas is still a football blueblood and isn't too far removed from a decade of double digit wins every year. Coaching is really the only thing that has been lacking.
