This is a tough but good point. I will say that in the era of transfer portals we can always pay for a more proven commodity later. We can't live by the portal, but we can patch holes left by recruiting misses now. I trust that Hugh will win more interior lineman battle in 2025 though

Hopefully Auburn can keep creeping up Kamarion Franklin’s list. I think LJ McCray is staying in Florida.

I am betting that the portal will become more of the place to pick up top talent and where the bigger money will go. Like free agent market.

Me too. The transfer portal is where you get the true blue chip players. Experienced, talented and one year away from the NFL draft.

Do you like getting a player who is productive in a G5 or FCS league who wants to try his hand against the best?

Or would you prefer Power 5 guys who for whatever reason want to switch to Auburn (closer to home, position group deep at current school, coach left, etc)?

Get as much top end talent as you can regardless of position and fill the gaps in the Portal.

I do actually. Its not ideal as the players havent been groomed in our coaches' systems, however, there is NFL talent at all levels of competition and adding that talent to our roster is always welcome in my book.

I'll take a dose of both. Power 5 portal guys are going to have a higher price tag so the value may be in the G5 or FCS. Either way, I'll take talent when its available and the more experienced and proven the better.

With many evaluations occurring in 15 year olds, I imagine some guys are late bloomers physically or just not polished or playing out of position in high school.

I guess projecting a lineman on either side of the ball is difficult after the obvious explosive big athletes that really standout.

I think it has potential to be one of the greatest/most important weeks of Auburn recruiting in a very long time.

Clemente did an interview with Riddick ahead of his decision on Wednesday.

quote:

"I mean, I'm kind of glad and ready to get it all over with," "Ready to get to the school that I'm going to be at for the next three-to-four years."

quote:

"I do kind of have an idea where I'm going," Riddick said. "It's going to be a birthday present for my momma."

What stands out about each finalist:

quote:

Georgia: "I mean, I grew up there so it's home for me. I love the community but at the end of the day I don't feel like it's home — it don't feel like home no more."

Alabama: "Everything sticks out about them. They're a good school, good community, good coaches."

Auburn: "Just everything. I like the community, I like the family, I love everything. I love everything about the school."

I think we're already at the point that this will be one of the most important. We'll see about the greatest.

Auburn live had some nice thoughts last night.

Riddick had said something to the effect of "Ill take one more look at what Georgia and Alabama have to offer and if its not there.....Im coming home", dont think you have to read the tea leaves on that one.

Pink said as optimistic as he is on Riddick and Thompson, there is even more positive chatter on KJ Bolden. Smuphy statement may be ringing true, he has been saying it for quite a while.

Throw in DeAndre Carter, heck JLee said it would be a kick in the head if his teammate the running back took the trip with him.

Ah fellas this is fun, this is what following recruiting is all about.

By the way, JLee said Auburn is in consistent contact with Coleman, its all NIL driven. Careful careful we dont upset the whole pay structure for one kid which could very well be what A&M is doing. Let it ride and when we whip their arse all over their pretty field, well we will see about Mr. Coleman.

Pink believes Auburn may be separating themselves from Texas for TJ Lindsey.

Also seems to think we shake out 3-4 commitments from BCW

Yep and clarified that’s just BCW, not all week.
