I like his defensive scheme

other than that, i'd like to have him here, but it's more of a wait and see thing for me

Baylor is 4th in Big 12 not bad for them ahead of Texas and OK so far. Arandas defense could be insane with players we could get with good NIL support.

Young, businesslike, won an NC as a coordinator and a P5 championship as an HC, several years of experience recruiting the south as an SEC coach

To be fair, Oklahoma is having a bad year and Texas still can't win big games

The Big 12 this year is just chaos

Those are the only two because I won't have to talk myself into believing they are the right guy like I've had to do so many other times.

People are going to bitch, regardless of who is hired. Uniting the fan base will require the next guy to win. Next guy could pull talent, but do a Jimbo and lose, or struggle with recruting top classes, and coach them up, like Tubs. People are still going to bitch and moan until we see the product on the field.

None are perfect.

I would be fine with Prime and it would never be boring with him around. Prime also could be had for a low buyout. Problem is he isn't really a coach and has little experience at it. His success would depend solely on crootin and on who his assistants are. Prime, however, is highly competitive and hates to lose, so he would definitely give it all he has. Plus I think Bo said recently he sorta likes the idea of Prime at AU.

Freeze is better than what we had, but I just do not like the guy. Not because of the hooker stuff, but I just cannot stand his personality. He is one of those "preachy" prosperity Christian people that are really annoying. He is a lot like Jimbo Fisher - when you hear him talk you just think "this guy is a used car salesman." Freeze can back up his talk, but he still annoys me.

Campbell and Fickell both are Midwest guys with zero SEC experience. Fickell has tore it up at Cinci but Harsin tore it up at Boise. So I am skeptical of G5 guys.

Dan Mullen is still a good X's and O's guy and a good QB coach, but he is a retread. His problem at Florida is his recruiting sucked and he didn't even seem to try (much like Harsin). We don't need that problem again.

Dave Aranda has a huge buyout, but I would certainly be happy with him. Aranda is a really quiet and mild mannered guy so I wonder how good of a recruiter he is.

Lane Kiffin would be entertaining and would give us a really good O. The problem is his defenses suck. At some point you're going to get in low scoring defensive games and Lane will lose those almost every time.

Mark Stoops is a good, solid coach, but can he go against Saban/Kirby in recruiting? I just don't know about that.

Gus Malzahn is a good offensive mind with SEC experience (he spent 8 years at Auburn). He is now at UCF and has done pretty well. He just knocked off Luke Fickell this weekend. You can do worse than Malzahn but he doesn't overly excite me.

When it's all said and done I think Matt Rhule is the best option, mostly because he was an NFL head coach. That is a huge thing to recruits, imo. Plus Rhule can actually coach.
