I'm with you. The talent and experience we have should be top 10-20 D if we play fundamentally sound D. Supposedly that's what Steele does well

I don't think we will see top 5 defense from Steele unless the players outperform the coaching

Though I am not sold on Kevin Steele, I must say watching just the first half of replays shows the Clemson offense turning the ball over in bizarre ways. Keeping the defense on the field and in Clemson territory. Many missed tackles on some plays, and then guys just running away from the play.

As Dabo brought up in the pre game speech asking for his guys to show up and not be intimidated by the big stage, I believe once the game was out of reach, those kids gave up.

We can have a top 35 defense, win 10-11 games, but we need a top ten offense.

I guess we'll find out. Lot of coaches will watch their future careers get shaped by how this season goes.

Are you seriously suggesting that Les Miles, the guy that LSU admin leaked was fired in the middle of the year, is considered "more stable?"

If you want to put them on the same level of hot seat, so be it. You must be taking some serious acid to think that Gus is on a significantly hotter seat

I absolutely believe in coaching circles Les is considered on less of a hot seat as compared to Gus...mainly because of the perception Auburn's power brokers pull the trigger quicker...assuming the data about the contract offered to Aranda by LSU vs what we know Auburn was offering I am not surprised in the least.

In what world do you live in that getting fired for doing 10 wins and having it publicly leaked only to be saved by ESPN makes your seat less hot than Gus?

LSU's power brokers failed to lock down the other coach, he wasn't saved by ESPN.

Sort of reminds me of Tubbs...I suspect they will leave Les alone for a several years then pounce when he slips. In general, I believe Auburn is perceived to be a place that is quick to send coaches packing. I personally believe that is perception more than actual reality, but we have had our issues. Tater tot, Tubbs in 2003, Chiz and the possibility that we might not give Gus much time.

IMO among the coaching circle it is believed that Gus may not be the man for this job...while Les had power brokers try to get him out if they could get their guy in, but that failed and Les is the man for that job if LSU can't get their specific man.

This is in no way what happened. LSU is hurting for state funding and publicly said it would look bad buying out Les for $15mil or w/e while asking for money

You do realize the situation you described for both coaches is more or less than same right?
Both coaches are viewed by people as not being the best fit for the job.

If you don't think Les Miles seat is as hot as Gus' you are stupid. If Gus wins 8 games he sticks around. If Les wins 10 games, good shot he is fired

I realized by the nature of your post the level of your intellect, however this post confirmed it. Old saying..."if you argue with a fool people start to wonder who the fool is"

Zero chance Les is gone with 10 wins.

So last year when Les was 9-3 and a rained out FCS game away from 10 wins and almost fired was what?

If you are wrong on almost all your assertions and your best response is to attack some internet posters intelligence, you lost the argument . The more you continue the stupider you look

Personal attacks are all he has.

Careful, unless you are like myself, and get kicks out of living in someone's head "Rent Free"!

It is disturbing at first to realize that someone has that level of an unhealthy fascination with you. But, considering the source...

I am not wrong on my assertions. Like yours they are only my opinions. They were going to get rid of Les because of who they thought they had coming. You attacked someone's intelligence, in your attack you revealed your own.

FYI the Nov. 28 date when Fisher suggested he was intent on staying at FSU is interesting. You assert the financial issues of the school and state as if the school and state pay for the football coach and coaches? Boosters wanted him out and some wanted him to stay. People in positions to the make the decision wanted him out and some wanted him to stay. So what changed...Nov. 28 Fisher stayed at FSU. The one thing that might have swayed those boosters and power brokers who weren't convinced Les needed to leave.

He's mediocre and we paid too much for someone that LSU was firing.

Btw, I am glad Muschamp is gone. I took up for him because he was at AU, but he has a track record of losing, and pissing the suits off. Just seems like a program killing type of guy. Steele has acted like a professional at every stop, so let's give him a chance.

I'm not judging much off the Clemson game. Games like Arkansas, Ole Miss, TAMU and LSU where the offenses are more one sided and more predictable are where I will judge him more. If we hold those teams in check and keep us in the games then I will be ok with Steele, if any of those teams go wild and run away from us then I will jump on board with clearing house.
