While I don't like Harbaugh, I love that he refuses to play anything but 100%.

Why should you ask your players to play anything other than 100%? Why should you deny backups/walkons the opportunity to play at 100% in a Big10 game? It isn't his or his players' fault that you can't coach your p5 team well enough to compete.

Look, for me the type of game today is the time to let the backups come in and run our offense at full throttle so they are prepared should they need to take over.

It is wasted playing time just to go conservative. It's not about just blowing out an opponent, but let's see what our reserves can do. Real game time, and handing off 3 plays and punting does not accomplish that.

If MSU can't stop our backups from scoring at will, they deserve to have the score run up on them.

If our backups let the opponent close some of the gap, it shows they need the game experience to improve and learn

One thing Malzahn and Rhett did to though was practice rotating in and out of the game with the JF3 offense. They were coaching until the end in some ways.

That's not enough in my opinion.

Again, you use those kind of games to let them loose and see what they can do. Wasted opportunity otherwise.

I mean the 4th and 1 play where they brought the starters back out for one play and then rotated back in the JF offense. I hope they're serious about running JF reads soon. We're scary thin at RB now that KJ is human.

bullshite, put your backups in and keep running your offense. if a team isnt worth trying against for an entire game we have no business playing them.

Love him or hate him, Spurrier said it best:

quote:

“I wanted to hang half a hundred on ‘em.”- Oct. 28, 1995 Georgia had never allowed 50 points in a game at Sanford Stadium prior to the 1995 Florida-Georgia game. The game was played in Athens as the back half of a home-and-home series at campus sites while Jacksonville Municipal Stadium was being renovated. With the game out of hand, Florida scored a meaningless late touchdown to reach the 50-point mark in a 52-17 rout.

yeah I remember him saying things like "seems like if us scoring touchdowns in the 4th quarter bothered them that bad they would have stopped us once or twice". dont remember Spurrier blowing big leads and losing titles either.

I will admit as awesome as that first half was, I was pretty frustrated during the second half. Like other posters have stated I would have liked to keep running our offense until we scored another touchdown in the 3rd. A score like 45-7 would have looked a little bit better, but wouldn't have meant much else.

With that being said, the way our offense looked in the second half, was how our offense looked all the time prior to the LSU game. It's great to know that is us shutting it down now, and not our entire game plan from beginning.

I hate any business, military unit or sports team doing anything HALF SPEED.

Doing so makes team members extremely lazy and lethargic.

That said.... a win's a win.

Michigan beat Rutgers today 78-0.

Rutgers is now officially a "Power 5" team.

You think Harbaugh gave a shite about running up the score? They were ahead 57-0 when the 4th quarter started.

They scored 3 more TDs in the 4th quarter.

Were the #4 and #5 teams (Michigan and Washington) coaches worried about "health" and the other team being embarrassed today?

Doesn't look like it.
Michigan threw it three times in the second half.

Three attempted passes total in the last 30 mins of the game.

Does that count as trying to run the score up when you just run it over and over and the other team doesn't stop it?
