I watched it with my wife’s family - all UK fans - and mentioned to them our recent ability to pull off miraculous chokes against Alabama. Then we did it in almost comically dramatic fashion. I was mainly angry because the script just isn’t changing at all.

It's like top-5 favorite songs....changes.

Today, number 1.

Couple weeks...it's up there, but maybe not number 1.

Yall are literally taking way too much from the game. When yall start taking Bama as the next game instead of the game then things come into much more perspective. It was a heart breaking loss for sure but for me every loss is. Iv’e seen many last second losses they all hurt. But we need to see this in year one. We just came off a game where we got our shite pushed in. We made many mistakes in the game. Y’all know I love Var but he dropped a nice pass in the back of the endzone and we had to settle for a FG. If we score there the 4th and 31 could have only at best tied the game up.

We are on the right path. There will be bumps in the road. This is a big bump but in the grand scheme this ain’t shite other than personal feelings about the rivalry. Y’all been saying just beating Bama isn’t enough. Just being a solid to good team isn’t enough. We want to compete every game and win championships. That’s gonna take a couple years to get close. And for this loss in a ranking for me it’s not even close to 2001 lose to Bama or the 88 earthquake game loss at LSU.

2023. Not sure what the year matters. All close losses hurt.

Here's what you're missing. It has sucked to be an auburn fan for the last decade. It has especially sucked the last 3 or 4 years. I am not a beating bama is all that matters guy at all but in seasons like this this game is as close to a championship as we're going to get. To have the game won for the second time in three years only to lose on an inexplicable play hurts. It has been so long since we've had a truly big or important win. I agree with you that big picture 5 years down the road it may not mean that much but it would have been nice to remember what it feels like to have fun as an auburn fan again.

Eta, not to mention the kids that have been through a lot and laid it all on the line and deserved better too

As far as a heartbreak at the last of the game, this is pretty high up there.

1. Loss to FSU 2013 season
2. Final four loss
3. Probably this.

I was suprised how much this loss has affected me, couldn’t really put my finger on why till this evening, the last two weeks have been soul crushing but it’s the cumulative effect from losing time after time to our rivals, seen somewhere that the 24 class will be the first class in AU history to go 0-8 against Bama and uga in school history. So if I had to rate

1. Every loss that continues this horrendous streak we are on is gonna be worse till our guys break it.

We are and have been down in the dumps for years and keep finding new ways to lose and make it worse.

Gus should’ve been fired after LSU 2017, that’s what started this pit of despair. He got a contract and quit.

I’m so numb to Auburn football at this point. I’ve watched maybe 5 games in the past 3 years. I don’t believe those making decisions for the program really give a damn one way or another. Four sham coaching searches and the results speak for themselves. The muffed punt, the stupid touchdown?? None of it was a shocker because the program has been allowed to fall to the point that those things are expected. It just makes me angry that this has become the norm.

the pain is compounded by our two biggest rivals having historic success

Doc I think you are correct. I think us living in the state with Alabama and those in Georgia living with this dirty dogs has us a little more sensitive. I understand that and I’m definitely ready to turn the tables and start winning consistently against our rivals again.

List is good. This one hurt, but no major implications. Auburn has hope for the future which we have not had since 2019. Sucks to lose to Bama 4 in a row when we should have won the last 2 in Jordan Hare, hurt for 48 hours. Would have kept them from a championship.

2009 IB hurt cause we had them beat if we just made a first down.

Seems we ran the same passing play twice with Todd which failed and had to punt to them. Watching McElroy march down the field in the final minutes while their WRs were picking all over.

My personal top 10 WORST in 2 categories. Those was in attendance and those at home.

In attendance-

1. 2013 National Title Game- was in attendance. FSU fans doused us in beer and stole my hat of my head at the end.

2. 2002 USC- just a total disaster for Jim Fyffe. We were supposed to cheer touchdown Auburn when we scored. Didn’t score. Loss impacted perceptions in 2004.

3. 2006 Arkansas. Number 2 team. Got throttled.

4. 1997 SEC Championship to Tennessee- had them beat and let them come back to win.

5. 1997- Miss St. Blanked 20-0 at home as a top 10 team to unranked State.

6. 1999 Alabama- for me- really bad fan experience.

7. 1996 Georgia- AUs 1st OT game- 4 of them. Should’ve won it like 4 times.

8. 2002 Georgia- heart break at the end.

9. 1998 Tennessee- so close; butter pill after 1997 SEC Champ loss-

10. 2008 Vanderbilt- just a kick in the balls.

On TV-

1. 2023- Bama- obvious reasons
2. 2021- Bama - obvious reasons
3. 2022- Miss St- maddening
4. 2021 Miss St- last time we were ranked
5. 1988- FSU Sugar Bowl Game Neon Deon
6. 1988- LSU game Earthquake
7. 1985- Bama - last minute field goal
8. 1986- Georgia - hose game
9. 2018 Tennessee- beaten at home by a BAD UT team
10. 2017 - SEC Champ to UGA and then to be embarrassed by UCF
