I’ve grown a little shaky in recent days about my prediction that John Franklin III will be the starting quarterback. One person close to the program says that White would be the clear starter if the season opened today.

Whatever PM says I just believe the exact opposite, so I'm looking forward to JFIII starting

A guy with starting experience + 2 years in the program would be the starter as of right now over a JUCO QB?Great insight PaM

There is a long way and a lot of development to go before tha thappens.

Basically all he said is that there is a QB competition going on.

Glad he cleared that up for us

I still do not understand the JF3 hype train. Nothing at all has indicated that he will even be the starting quarterback, let alone an above average one. It's completely wishful thinking. I mean what can he even do? He's fast? That's great. Maybe he'll be able to catch up and tackle the cornerback after every interception he throws.

ETA In fact, when he committed to us, it was generally accepted that he was going to come in as a WR. Because people don't like the other options at QB, they're trying to convince themselves that he's the savior of the offense.

For some reason they think he's just like Nick Marshall coming out of JUCO when he's not.

1) where is this hype train?

2) you clearly don't remember what was said about Marshall when he came out of JUCO

(1) At least half our fan base thinks he'll start and that's a conservative estimate.

(2) I do remember. I'm not saying the talk about Marshall coming out of JUCO is the same as Franklin now. I'm saying people watch Franklin play now and think thats how Marshall was coming out of JUCO. I was much more impressed by what I saw from Marshall in JUCO then I've seen from Franklin.

I think this number was accurate initially. Seems that hype train was premature though.

Come on dawg, you have danced down both sides of this aisle/debate, just as you do most.

You stated he was an idiot, then after you obviously read the article, came back with a more subtle take.

Pick a side, and stand there! You don't get credit for having agreed with everyone. This isn't politics.

I am good with you being wrong/right, but you can't be both on every subject.

yes, because your other options are a mental midget, a guy who can't find an open receiver in the endzone (cue the hurr its all play calling as why White can't throw more than one TD in 143 attempts), a guy who hasn't been healthy since he arrived on campus, and a tf not even on campus yet.

and this is considered hype to you?

i think you're stretching your imagination on this. the story now is gus doesn't know how to use a pp and going to the ro is the only way for the offense to work. it has nothing to do with comparing him to marshall coming out of juco.

White hit more hands last year than JF3 will have PA this year.

Funny because I've been consistently "Sean White won't fit AU's scheme" since his before he started at Auburn.

1) Never read the article just someone's summation 2) I said first that PaM stated the obvious and second that he basically just said "There's a QB competition"

That isn't taking both sides Forrest Gump

It is May the 4th.

Can we wait until June or July before burning down the board?

Sean White is a damn good QB so yeah I would consider that hype. The hype for him goes beyond that too though.

I've seen him compared to Nick Marshall. I don't give a shite if you think I haven't so I'm not going to sit here and argue it
