Even with an above average option at QB like Sean White, I see us winning 6-7 regular season games and at least 7 games total. Just not >7 regular season
I've always been positive about defense making improvements (not hard ) and I think against non elite Ds our offense can get it done.

Don't confuse me saying Sean White's performances haven't been great as saying he sucks. I've consistently maintained that I think he could be a good West Coast Offense type QB, I just view him as a square peg for a round hole in Gus' system.

A dumpster fire by what standards? I think some of you are just in denial about what Auburn is and/or can be. Auburn was a consistent QB away from 3 more wins last year. It's not as if the team needed complete overhaul. But continue the melt. It's glorious and exaggerated.

from a talent perspective we're a 10 win roster....just need consistency from the triggerman. I'll say that is White's biggest issue is being consistent. Being healthy and 1 more year in college and in the system SHOULD help with consistency. I think too many people just expect SW to never improve or have the game slow down for him. Maybe most don't take into account the fact he was a freshman? Either way, the roster as a whole is there for us to be really good.

Roc sucked. Never came close to his rating.

Not even close. We don't win 10 games with our shitastic defensive consistency. Our 2014 offense deserved to win at least 12-13 and our defense gave us 8

Our defense looked promising to end the year and improved going into next year. Let's not forget we have sung this tune every year since Tuberville left

Maybe it is the revolving door of DCs, maybe the talent, maybe Gus, but LSU rides their defense to 10+ wins every year.

For Chexmix clarification, I am very optimistic about our defense. Every year though we forget history and trust our defense only to get burned

I understand the premise of your hesitancy.....BUUUUUUUT at the same time it really isn't that relevant to evaluate this year's defense by comparing defenses from other years with other coordinators with other players. I don't think i'm pumping sunshine in saying this is easily the most talented defense Auburn has fielded in quite some time. And in CFB, the jimmies and joes are key moreso than scheme, IMO.

We are losing 6 multi year starters from our defense, replacing our DC and two position coaches.

There is no historical evidence that our defense will be great, it is just our own projections.

You might want to take a looksie at our OL and defense before saying things like this.

KJ will fill the slot receiver/wild cat qb role and Jovon will be the every down back. Throw in Pettway and Cox and there is just no room for Roc to get much playing time, not a big loss in my opinion unless the injury bug hits.

just some possible projections:

LT- Austin Golson - high4*
LG- Alex Kozan 4*
C - Dampeer 3*
RG- Braden Smith high4*
RT- Darius James high4* or Leff 3*

I think they WANT James to take one of the OT spots

DE- Marlon Davison 5*
or Byron Cowart 5*
DT- Monty 5*
DT- Devaroe Lawrence 3* or DRussell 4*
DE- Carl Lawson 5*
LB- Ty Neal Jr (dunno his ranking but was 2nd team all B1G)
LB- Tre Williams 5*
LB- Darrell Williams high4*
Nickel- Rudy 4* (when we play nickel)
CB- Carlton Davis 4*
CB- Jamel Dean 4*
S- Rudy (in base) or Ruffin 4* or Roberts 4*
S- Tre Matthews high4*

And there are plenty of other guys who are young and just as highly rated that are backups on D.

Not sure where I'm off base in saying we have talent.

You're not. And I've been saying all offseason that nobody should be surprised at 10 wins.... Except for the rantards that don't know shite about our team to begin with

If we played last year's schedule, even with Sean White starting we had a great shot at hitting 10 wins with this team. This year 3 losses seems a bit harder given we are relying on unproven talents at key positions + no injuries

I have a hard time believing we do better than 1-2 vs

LSU
Clemson
@Alabama

That we only drop 1 game against

@Ole Miss
@Georgia
Bowl Game against top opponent (given 9+ wins)

Then sweep the board against

Arkansas
TAMU
Miss St
Vanderbilt (Returns 16 starters from improved team)

Ok star gazer, those sane DL players were here last season made were part of an Auburn defense that gave up the most rushing yards in our history to one player TWICE last season. Couple that with an unknown LBER Corp, the fact that Trigger Tre sucks, and we made the worst hire in the SEC at DC. But by all means hold that rope.

Solid arguments

Others.... not so much

the fact that Trigger Tre sucks

We saw injured Trigger Tre sucks. Nothing would suggest healthy Trigger Tre sucks, as he performed at ahigh level vs Louisville pre injury. Not a large enough sample to say he is good, just enough to say he sucks isn't a foregone conclusion

There is a real argument that it isn't a good hire, but this isn't Lorenzo Ward/Mark Snyder bad by any stretch
