was it not you?

There are so many out there spreading "what i heard" information that never comes to pass that it's hard to keep up with which baseless rumor goes to which poster.

No doubt, that is easy to do... We will know Monday (actually probable Sunday when he tells the team).

I'd make it known that his(Jacobs) job is dependent on a home run hire and make sure there are a system of checks in place to make sure Jacobs does not hold majority power in a new HC search/decision

This would be ideal.

allin, I know it's fluid, but who are you hearing as HC. Not gonna hold you to it, just wondering.

I have zero idea about a coach, the standard names of course.

PM recent rantings (he must be following the boards)..Unseemly campaigning, tickets still available, a mentally tough quarterback and more.

Stop the campaigning. You are making matters worse and making your school and your program look bad.....

The opening of practice (A joke).

ETA: He is talking about JJ campaigning (without mentioning his name, etc.)

Tickets available - a joke...

Sometimes I think PM is drunk. He looks a little like an alcoholic

Sometimes his articles are pretty articulate and then sometimes his sentences look like a 13 year old structured them

No, PM. That's what the Chiz is doing.

He was talking about folks campaigning FOR Chizik and Jay Jacobs... He was saying the email campaign, the visit to the sky boxes, the opening of practices...

He was NOT talking about the fans...

This one was on me... I did not communicate it properly and I can see how it was interpreted.

So is anybody hearing anything regarding Gary Patterson?

I agree with whoever said that a lot of coaches at the "Name" programs will use the Auburn job to secure raises from their schools :lookingatyousexton:

The one thing you do not want is too much in the media about who the coach will be...

Jay Tate latest

The university president is either showing or attempting to show that he'll be nobody's lapdog. Unofficial representatives have come to him and Gogue is mostly rebuking them either politely or, in some cases, impolitely. This is something new* to the Auburn athletics ecosystem. It's not being taken well by those attempting to wield their influence.

A week ago, I'd have been surprised to learn that Jay Jacobs will be the athletic director during the Georgia game. There was nearly unanimous support for the idea of moving Jacobs as soon as possible among The Unofficials, we'll call them, but Gogue once again asserted his influence. He reiterated his stance that decisions aren't made during the season. He also told at least one insider recently that he believes Jacobs is the right man to manage the athletic department going forward.

Jacobs presumably would remain in place if Gogue gets his way. Also, Gogue may assert similar levels of influence over a coaching search if one comes to fruition. Or if he were to decide that Gene Chizik should remain as head coach.

Thanks for posting. Consistent with what we have been hearing.

I think 100% Gogue will get his way...I also see noway that Chizik will be retained and am VERY confident that talks have been on-going for a graceful exit.

Seems like he is giving people the bussiness, which I'm okay with.

Everyone has acknowledged that one of the biggest hinderance in the coaching search will be the perception that certain boosters and alumni are actually running the program and the next coach will be answerable to them. Hopefully Gogue putting his foot down will dispel that perception and help make a quality hire.
