I don't want him playing qb for Auburn, but I'm not going to denigrate the young man. I wish him the best. Sorry it didn't work out.

I joked about it because that is what I do, but I actually can agree with this.

I was a big JJ fan and had high hopes for him, and was disappointed he couldn't make it for whatever the reason is.

I actually am surprised he showed the courage to stay after last season.

I don't want -JJ to quit the team, just not play anymore.

Don't see why he would quit the team. I feel bad if fan hate is so bad that being a backup and finishing isn't worth it

I don't expect White to go through the season without getting nicked up. He gets hit too hard and he's not a guy with a big frame. JJ will play before the end of the year because I don't think we have any choice. Hope he doesn't quit.

I wish it wasn't the age of booing in college sports.

But I can understand why it is and sympathize... especially SEC football. Shits EXPENSIVE. And if you want to charge that much, people are going to demand (at the very least) COMPETENCE. And, in this case, I'm not talking individual players, I'm talking about the damn coaches who get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and, in Gus's case, millions to put a COMPETENT product on that damn field.

So I feel bad that JJ got boo'ed. Whose fault is that? As I pointed out above, I ain't gonna blame the fans and supporters who bleed out the arse to fund this damn program.

So who is to blame?

Gus fricking Malzahn is to blame.

like others have said, JJ looked like even he didnt understand why he was being put out there

it wasnt even necessarily gus was putting JJ out there, but that he was even changing qbs in the middle of a successful drive anyway

dumb

Where people booing JJ, or just the cluster that Malzahn was putting on. I felt it was directed more at him than any player.

I wasn't at the game but the booing came across as if it was intended for Gus on TV not any particular player

Someone posted it on Reddit too...could've been OP.

I don't understand what would cause him to quit...unless he wanted to start so bad that when he realized he was third string, he just gave up.

He could spin this by saying he's caused a lot of drama in the program the past two seasons that he thought it'd be best to step aside and just let the team perform, but I doubt it.

Observing through the telecast, it seemed to happen only (or more often) when JJ was brought on or was on the field.

I agree with you both, it was likely frustration with the coaching.

But it could very well have been directed at JJ too. I remember quite clearly the vicious booing that Chris Todd suffered in 2008.

"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY WONT KOH-DAY!"

Regarding the booing...

If I were there booing, it most certainly would've been toward Gus, not any of the players.

If JJ thought the booing was directed at him, and he wants us to feel sorry for him, then frick that. These players know what their getting into when they play SEC football. JJ took the helms of a top 5 team last season and shite the bed hard.

The boo birds were flying almost the entire first half. After that, people were just numb to the insanity that we were watching. Had a man from South Carolina sitting in front of me say that what Gus was doing was inconceivable, even at a high school level.

Now, i'm not one to boo at the game unless its at the refs, but I literally could not control it last week. What surprised me was how many people couldnt stop either. Boos were raining down like snow in Canada.

My mother who has been going to games since the 70s said to hell with it, I'm done. She said she was going to burn her Gus Bus shirt and stop buying season tickets....Thats how bad it was at the game.

Not directed at you personally Chex....but you guys kill me.

After all the shite you all have talked about JJ for 2 years now..it is all of a sudden, I was just joking, I didn't want him to quit the team, just not play anymore. If you don't want him to play anymore then what point is there of him being on the damn team? frick him and Gus and the boo birds were more than called for!!! You sound like a bunch of SJW Mizzou ****s up in here!!!

They will let him stay on scholarship to ride out the year and get his degree. He is a senior.

It's NCAA D1 football. Thinking that someone is not good enough to play at that level is not unreasonable. I doubt anyone here sincerely wants anything less than the best for JJ. I don't think ANYONE would have complained if he really was the second coming of Cam Newton. Of course, when we all saw that he wasn't, it's well within our rights as Auburn football fans to want to see either A) JJ play MUCH better or B) someone else take his place on the field. There's a massive difference in thinking someone is not fit for this level of football and disliking them as a person. If you can't understand that difference, I think you're the one that's a "SJM Mizzou ****."

In fact, your own comment suggests most posters DO care about JJ as a person. If he was not on the football team, AU could cut his scholarship. Anyone wanting him to just stay on the sidelines and signal plays or use a headset is okay with him taking up one of AU's 85 scholarships just so that he can get an education for free due to how good at football he was in high school. Piss off.

I never brought up what i thought about JJ quitting the team, but if your asking me what i think....I'm freaking excited he is gone. Not because he is a terrible QB, but because it limits the number of Qbs Gus can swap in and out and frick our offense with.

And in regard to the boo birds, I apologized to everyone that was sitting around me for booing and that i couldnt control it. They all told me the booing was justified and they joined in. It was extremely embarrassing what Gus did to the Auburn fans that day.

It was arguably the worst coaching job of all time

This is why I am happy as well!!! As I said in the thread on tRant...This is all truly Gus's fault. And again i am sure Au will do the right thing since he is a senior and let him finish his degree for free on scholly.
