The guy sounds like a total douche.

Most of my baseball coaches were douchebags. I think Sunny is certainly one of them but I'm okay with that. We have two nice-guy coaches on campus with Gus and Bruce. Sunny is a nice contrast.

Our baseball bros could use a little toughness.

Our opinions regarding SG this season have been a roller coaster.

When the teams looks bad, we point out all the bad things about him and say he needs to be fired.

When we're doing well, we find ways to rationalize him being our coach.

I'm not a fan of him. Whether we are winning or not

I haven't. He cost us 2 runs last night that would have cost us a game on most nights.

We may have won last night but we didn't look good. Sunny could be justifiably fired after this season even if Auburn wins the CWS.

So let's not get too ahead of ourselves here

Supposedly SG very well may be on his way out per Rivals/JGT

Summary

Context

-Golloway rubbed people the wrong way probably because he is an ahole

-Auburn knew he was an ahole, but not this big of an ahole

-Auburn almost fired him, but an agreement to not be as big of an a hole let him stay + someone to monitor him upholding his end

Today

-Golloway, clearly upset about having to hide being an a hole, decided he didn't care and showed his true colors again

-"Credible Chatter" that his days are numbered now

-Auburn believes they may be able to terminate SG with cause. Otherwise there is a $1.25mil buyout

Wow. No hint of what he did? And we just had a top ten recruiting class too. This guy is a bigger headcase than some of these idiot 20 year old football players who throw away a million dollar career over some self control issue.

I don't think "being an ahole" is cause for firing him.

Then I feel like that would lead to the assumption that it's more than just being an ahole

But if we're upset with him for being an ahole, what would be cause for firing him that isn't a big enough issue for us to be upset with? Riddle me that.

The way he treats players is one. Just ask Mike Leach.

Pam Chimed in (NOTHING NEW): Basically said, hard to believe JJ can do nothing, no confirmation of what happened.

I was talking with a guy who used to pitch for Ole Miss about 4 or 5 months back and I asked him about what he thought of Galloway. He said he had come across him back when he was at UO and he said that he was a dickhead big time. He told me that he could recruit like crazy but he was a complete 180 from that when you got there. He told me that he runs off a lot of players and belittles the ones that stay. He said if they fight through his bullshite then they turn out to be good players.

I don't see what the problem is. If he is recruiting well, and winning, why fire him? Outside of a few seasons, we have always been a terrible baseball team. Probably the worst in the SEC. Would be a mistake to fire Sunny because he hurts feelings, and doesn't baby college kids.

Um...

His record as coach of the Auburn Tigers is 634-328-0. From 1985-2001 he won more baseball games than any coach in Auburn history. His overall coaching record is 779-394-1 (.663). Baird guided the Tigers to three NCAA Regional titles, an SEC Western Division Championship and an SEC Tournament Championship and 10 times during Baird's Auburn tenure his teams finish the season ranked in the top 25. His Auburn teams won at least 30 games in every season he was the head coach and the program participated in nine NCAA Regionals during his stay, including seven in his last eight years at Auburn.

That's better than a few seasons.

I'm not saying either way. I don't care if they fire him or not, baseball isn't a big sport for me personally so I could give a shite if we are an average club or not.

I was just telling a story of meeting a player that had friends that went and played for him.

Not directed at you. We have never won the CWS. We have only been to the tourney a hand full of times. If we fire him, we won't get a big name coach. JJ has already stated we are at a major disadvantage due to scholarship limitations. He is probably the best we can do. Maybe we need an a-hole.
