Our RPI keeps going up. If we can go 5-4 in the rest of our SEC games I will feel confident we make a regional.
There are a lot of variables involved to make that statement true or not.

1. We have to beat Cookman and UAB. (non negotiable)

2. Indiana St. & Mercer have to mow down the rest of their conference schedules. Even though most RPIs post rating of 1-50. The NCAA breaks it down further to 1-25 and 26-50, putting more weight on the 1-25 section. Right now we are a respectable 6-8 versus the RPI top 25. If ISU and Mercer drop out of the top 25 down the stretc then we drop to 2-8 versus the top 25 which is worse than the 3-9 mark we put up last season. Mercer has a huge noncon game in AU's eyes in a week and a half. They play @ #3 UF. If they can get that one and maintain course in the A-Sun then that will be a nice help to AU

3. Of the 5 wins you are looking for, as things stand now 3 of those will likely have to come from combined LSU and Kentucky with Kentucky having the bigger impact since it's a road series. Teams that could give us cushion here are UT and TAMU. If they can work their way into the top 25 then our top 25 RPI record is a more respectable 10-10. If that were to happen then that gives a chance to go 2-4 with LSU & UK giving us still a respectable 12-14 versus top 25 RPI teams. In that scenario though we would likely need to sweep Miss St. If ISU and Mercer flounder plus UT and TAMU don't get in the RPI top 25 then winning 5 of the last 9 SEC games is likely not enough without doing work in the SEC Tourney.

Series most important to AU outside MSU this weekend

1. #27 UT take 2 from #14 UK @ home-would move into the top 25 with a series win. May move in taking 1 game.

2. #35 TAMU take 2 from #16 LSU @ home. Could get TAMU in the RPI top 25

3. #56 Arky win series at #7 Ole Miss-would definitely get the Hogs back on the RPI top 50. 1 win would maintain their spot if not move up a little.

4. Mizzou get what you can @ home versus #9 Vandy- We did not play Vandy and Mizzou has the most to gain RPI number wise with a series win

5. Bama win the series @ home versus #3 UF-We are not playing UF this year

6. SCe pound the Dawgs in Athens-We are not playing UGA this year.

FWIW as of now Kendall Rogers of Perfectgame.com has AU 4th team out of the NCAAs as of today. He has 10 SEC teams in which would be the most of any conference ever. Here they are with their projected seeds

1. UF-National top 8 Seed
1. SCe-National top 8 Seed
1. Rebs-National top 8 Seed
1. LSU
1. Bama
2. Vandy
2. UK
2. Miss St
3. TAMU
3. Arky

I like math and boy do you deliver E. I agree with 1 and 2 of your first part. I think we need TAMU to flounder in order for us to move into the #10 spot as far as making a regional.

I agree with 1, 3, 4, and 6 of the second part. As I said earlier we need TAMU to fall behind us in RPI, conference record, and overall record. The SEC is not getting 11 teams into regionals. As for number 5 yes it would help Auburn but I cant pull for bama.

I did see that KRPG article and think that if we go 5-4 and TAMU slips behind us we can take their regional spot.

But I am still expecting us to win the SEC tournament and get into regionals that way.

We are not limited to 10. If the NCAA feels 11 SEC teams are deserving to get in then they will get in. 2 projections this week have 11 in FWIW. Still waiting on Chasing Omaha to come out with theirs today.

TAMU is not the most likely out right now of the teams projected in front of us. UT and Arky are. UT is 4-6 versus the top 25 in the RPI.

8 teams are safely in now. If 3 of 4 of AU, Arky, UT, and TAMU do what they need to do then the SEC would get 11 in.

Yes we are not limited to 10. I just dont see us getting more than 10 in. And while true UT and arky can more easily fall out of a regional if we get ahead of TAMU I will be confident that we make a regional.

What makes you say that? All 4 resumes are very similar right now. Also you can't just look at a teams RPI number. You have to look at the same things the NCAA does: record vs RPI top 25, record in road and neutral games, record vs 26-50 RPI, and conference record. At 8-13 in the SEC that's why UT is out the most in the SEC.

Auburn:
RPI: 44

Road Record: 6-8
Neutral Record: 2-2
Record vs 25-50 RPI: 4-2
Conference Record: 9-12
Record vs other 3: 6-3

Arkansas:
RPI: 56
Record vs top 25 RPI: 8-7
Road Record: 5-6
Neutral Record: 1-3
Record vs 25-50 RPI: 4-6
Conference Record: 10-11
Record vs other 3: 1-2 Have not played TAMU and do not play UT

Texas A&M:
RPI: 36
Record vs top 25 RPI: 7-7
Road Record: 8-9
Neutral Record: 0-0
Record vs 25-50 RPI: 3-4
Conference Record: 10-11
Record vs other 3: 1-2 has not played ark and does not play UT

Tennessee:
RPI: 27
Record vs top 25 RPI: 4-8
Road Record: 8-10
Neutral Record: 0-0
Record vs 25-50 RPI: 6-3
Conference Record: 8-13
Record vs other 3: 1-2 does not play tamu or ark

If I had to order the teams right now its TAMU, UT, us, Arky. I want to get ahead of TAMU in order to feel confident we make a regional.

Last night was a weird game. Ortman gave up two solo shots which were our first at home in the SEC. Of course we also left men on 2nd and 3rd 3 times last night.

Auburn just went 18 straight innings without a run. Impressive.
