I was not impressed. From what I saw, there was no element of surprise. If we got a guy on base, we were going to try something....steal, bunt, anything but trying to move him with a hit.
This is correct for most of the season but the last few weeks we tried to move runners with hits...but failed miserably for the most part.

We have terrible baseball talent.
The talent as a whole is far from terrible. You don't lose 11 games, 7 of which were in the toughest conference in the nation via SEC games, by 1 run or in extras if talent is the terrible. Execution was the big issue and it falls equally on Sonny and the players. Sonny for poor communication to this team and the players, seniors specifically, for being stubborn by not listening to Sonny especially with runners on base.

Bunting and fielding ground balls is on the players. Our SS was the worst I've ever seen at that position wearing an AU uni. Our pitching is average, and Paw was a so called pitching expert. It will take 2-3 recruiting cycles before we can compete.

Poor fielding has nothing to do with talent IMO. That's concentration and focus issues. Personally I will wait a year before calling the pitching average. Apparently most of our pitchers were in summer leagues all last Summer and virtually got no rest since AU starts baseball practice back in the Fall. Golloway is not letting any pitchers play summer ball this year so it will be interesting to see if that 4+ months of rest will help the pitchers next season given they apparently pitched much better in Fall camp than this season per Golloway.

7 losses by 1 run or in extras in by far the toughest conference in college baseball is being competitive my friend. I agree it will take 2 class though to fully replenish though since almost 1/3 of our team is graduating this year.

Disagree. We we're close because of coaching, not talent. Sonny's past is one of winning, every stop he's been. We've tried the players coach type, let's give the hardass a try.

Not saying we don't give a hard as a try. But coaching alone did not get us to those 7 1 run losses, especially given he was not communicating well with the players often times and the seniors were being stubborn to not listen and execute his game plan in key situations. Like I said before, plenty of blame to go around on both sides.

People will not want to read this but next year could be as tough or tougher since we are losing 9 of 31 players. All 9 contributed a lot this year.

Maybe, but baseball is not like football. The right freshmen can get you wins ASAP.

Won't matter who he hires. Golloway is a control freak.

can golloway recruit?... he can be an a-hole and still win as long as he brings in talent.

that's my biggest concern... he'll have success as long as he brings in talent that'll buy into what he's trying to do... if not, he'll be gone by the end of the 2016 season (or sooner).

My guess is he can recruit given he has rubbed players the wrong way most of his career. I imagine he was not getting the most from them development wise. FWIW AU just lost it's best recruiter on this staff with Fixhall gone per a number of people close to the program.
