This isn't about today. It's about competing w/ LSU, Bama, etc.... I think Sean is playing lights out right now and my opinion is nothing against him. I just don't think we can be elite without a running QB.
This. It's the exact same thing as Chiz bringing in a pro-style offense to a team filled with spread players. You can't teach guys one thing and scrap it in the middle of their tenure, it just won't work and you'll end up with seasons of mediocrity and underachieving. Sean white will not start next year.

Can I bookmark this one too? If you are wrong will you promise to go post on the soccer board only after that?
If I'm wrong and he starts the first game next year, I'll never post on the AU board again. If he doesn't start will you do the same?

A receiver's job is to get open and catch the ball or block for a run. This doesn't change if you are running a spread or a pro-style offense.
A big difference between spread and pro-style are your offensive linemen but they haven't been a weakness yet. A spread typically uses a zone blocking scheme while a pro-style typically uses a helmet to helmet straight blocking scheme.

What is the difference between this year and Chiz's last year besides the fact we haven't given up yet. I only see one more win on our schedule.

who do you think the starter will be?
Posted on 10/24/15 at 4:23 pm to AU4real35
I can't... I don't even... we ran it down their throats at times. You wanna know why? Because of White's passing. That has more of an effect than a running QB. My only complaint on White's play is not keeping it some, and that may not have even been his fault.

Sean White will be our starter next year. He is super acurate and knows where to go with the ball. He was 19/32 with 9 drops. If we catch the ball and Gus calls a few passes on 1st down we would have won. After we tied the game in 3rd Gus got conservative on 1st and 2nd down on a couple drives killed us.

Why should we keep someone that either can't adapt or simply refuses to...
Sean White would start for most SEC teams. He'd probably have Bama up by a couple scores at this point.

How many games do we win next year if we have a pocket passing qb with the recievers we have? Nobody will make a prediction, but I'll say 6 games will be the absolute most.

I think the read option and running QB is what set us apart from LSU and Bama. I also think it's harder to stop than a good passing game. I want to see White against UGA and Bama before I change my opinion.

What does any of this have to do with your OP?

Look at teams with a running qb, it's just not even close.

It's hard to make a prediction when our schedule hasn't been released. We don't know who we have incoming as freshman. We don't know exactly who returns on defense. We don't know if Garner will be here or not. Should I go on?

The fact that once you have a certain type of players in your system and try to go totally against it, the end result will be the same.

The only thing that stopped our passing game today was our WR's. Arkansas didn't stop our passing game. Sean should have been 28-29/34 over 300 yds 1-2 TD's and 0 INT's.
That kind of game would have opened our running game more. He had two 90+ yard drives. He drove us down to give us a chance to tie the game with no time outs. I will give our WR's praise here because they made clutch catches. They couldn't in OT #4.
Sean is not responsible for the defensive play either.
