There's reports that Gus has started meddling with recruiting and giving his input into places it doesn't necessarily belong. For example: One report is that he starting tinkering with the offensive line personal and recruiting. Grimes didn't like this and Gus told him to find a new home.

Per Ron there are others that wouldn't mind leaving as well.

Ron says these coaches are frustrated by the same thing Will Muschamp was.

Coaches have much less input now than in 2013. In 2013 Gus did his thing and let all other coaches do their thing. Everyone gave input and Malzahn listened. Not anymore...

Now Gus has taken more control over every aspect and it has coaches looking for fresh starts elsewhere.

Everything from:

-Recruiting
-Practice Drills
-Organization

He's even now involved with the defense. Not on-field play calling but every level of organization which affects every aspect of the defense.

Quotes from Sanders

quote:

Some would consider other opportunities if they presented themselves. They're frustrated by the same things Will and others were.

quote:

They're hopefull Gus will go back to handling things as he did in 2013. But some wouldn't mind a fresh start.

quote:

Coaches have much less input now than in 2013.

I'm sure people really get upset when Saban "meddles".

But I thought Gus didn't give a shite about the day to day operations and only cared about his offense?

I'm more worried that our head coach wasn't already actively involved in recruiting, practice and organizational items.

Not busting you FYI thanks for posting so I know what the next wave of rumors generated by AU fans will be.

It truly is amazing how much shite we will sling at our own team. Ron Sanders always seems to jump in when times are bad with some super secret inside stuff about things going wrong. If we win 10 games next season he will go back into hiding

This is so laughable. "Gus only cares about coaching offense" to "Gus is way too involved in things he shouldn't be involved in"

That used to be the case. Apparently now he's getting more involved and pissing people off

We just went 7-6, clearly what our coaches were doing wasn't working. I'd be upset if our HC didn't do something to improve the team

ETA: Exception for if Muschamp stayed. He told him complete autonomy and our D clearly was improving. Muschamp could do his thing

So the HC, one with an offensive background at that, isn't allowed to give input on the players he wants on the OL? :

If that was Grimes problem then I'm glad he's leaving.

Guarantee you that Saban overrides their position coaches on what recruits they want and if they don't like it they can GTFO.

This is probably the stupidest thing to melt over. If anything it'll be good for Gus and the program to purge of assistants like that.

This. I'm all for baseless rumors being flung around, as it's what we as auburn fans do, but can we try for some consistency?

Here's a summary of those details:

"Gus Malzahn is trying to run his organization, but Auburn prefers that ten dozen assholes have input in everything."

Par for the course, really.

Who the frick is Ron Sanders?

I can tell you he is no friend of Auburn. He owns the Auburn 247 site (Also Oregons) and makes money from Auburn fans. Also Footballrumormill which should tell you all you need to know. Its all about clicks. He is responsible for a lot of BAD information that gets out and I will never understand his Agenda. I personally do not value his opinion at all. A few years ago I paid for membership, but dropped it after I knew he was posting a lot of wrong information, last year I also had access, but that individual said "never again".

HIS BIO
Ron Sanders is the founder and publisher of AuburnUndercover.com and DuckTerritory.com on the 247Sports Network. He also owns and publishes FootballRumorMill.com and is the Director of Client Development in the Sports Law Division at Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt.

Sanders brings a vast array of knowledge gained from his experiences in athletics and sports media. Sanders spent over a decade working with some of the biggest names in football at Auburn, LSU, Florida and Southern Miss. Sanders also spent two summers in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins. His contacts and relationships in college and the NFL keep him well-informed of coaching moves before they happen.

Sanders received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Auburn in 1998. He and his wife Rebecca reside in Celebration, Florida, with their three children, Alexandra, Chase and Riley.
