I'm 100% confident that if a white boy was doing it, i would dislike it too, because i do not enjoy narcissistic showboats.

ETA: Not that it matters, but I don't hate Cam. I just lack an appreciation for his style.

While I disagree and think it makes the game better, I respect your stance.

I'm not saying that everyone is racist if they don't like what Cam is doing, just that there are a lot of people who celebrate it when White people do it

fact that Cam dancing is even discussed as a criticism should be proof enough that race is involved.

No

any white QB were to do what Cam does, there wouldn't be any "He's a bad role model" or "TPOS" talk about them

Yes there would.

You're making a lot of assumptions.

So I just assume that when white football players dance/showboat into the endzone people won't love it?

Oh wait, it isn't an assumption because it already happens. ESPN's Grantland FTW . Still waiting for the Kelce is a TPOS bad role model letter

OBJ dances. No one hated him till last weekend. Almost every player in the NFL dances. A majority of players in the NFL are black. Most players in the NFL aren't hated or seen as bad role models.

Yet somehow you come out of this with racism.

Cam is hated or seen as a bad role model for a lot of stupid reasons but It's not because he's black.

Kelce doesnt have the spotlight that Cam has. More spotlight = More hate. Comes with the territory. If someone called Kelce a bad role model for dancing, no one would give a shite.

I thought Obama being presidential, would improve our race relations in this country but it seems worse. The fact is, there are people in every race that are intellectually lacking but the best way to solve it, is in your own life and how you raise your kids. There are no colors when you treat everyone like you would want to be treated. Calling people morons doesn't help anything. Johnny Football, Cam and Famous Jameis were stars. Do you think one got more unfair judgement than the other because of race? If you think so, you're part of the problem, not the solution. We just need to love each other, and respect everyone for who they are individually.

If you really thought this, you are living in a fantasy world.

The idea of no racism is a wonderful thing for all things living on earth but in reality, it is a pipe dream. People will always dislike people who are different. Period

If you believe a black, white, woman, arab, hillbilly, asian (sorry Jones) leader is going to smooth over racial tension, you are going to be disappointed.

As much as we want things to be on a level playing field, it more than likely will never be. People and animals for the most part will always dislike ones who are different.

Obama being elected just divided people more than ever. There is no rational anymore. Its just ridiculous.

Since we've already gone down the rabbit hole. Here's some morning reading for you all. It discusses a lot of the points that have been made in this thread.
quote:

quote:

Who’s afraid of a big, bad, unbeaten black QB? Life as @cameronnewton: on.si.com/1MtzjIl (via @SInow @si_nfl)

quote:

according to Jones, much of the judgement and scorn that’s directed Newton’s way traces all the way back to his college career. Back in the fall of 2010, Newton’s Auburn eligibility appeared to be in jeopardy due to allegations that he, or his family, had been compensated during his recruitment from junior college.

“They’ll never forget that when this all started coming down,” recalls Jones. “He runs off the field before, I think it was the Georgia game, with the biggest smile in the world on his face, right in front of the student section. And part of why people hate him so much, I’ve always believed, is that he went through all of that without an apology. He never once apologized for anything, and people felt like he got away with something, and he smiled in their faces the whole way.”

“I think that we’re kinda knee deep in the first generations of people who have been explicitly told that racism is wrong,” posits Jones. “And it’s almost impossible for anybody not to pick these things up because they’re all over the place, but once it happens, I think that people generally are not very good at saying that they’re wrong, and it’s very difficult for anybody of any persuasion to wind up talking about race in this country, and not, in some way, expose themselves as being wrong.”

“I think when you’re in a sport where manhood is so overvalued and mythologized,” adds Howard, “and when you combine that with ‘what makes a good man’?—?and generally that’s not a young, brash, clearly urban black person?—?you’re going to get arguments and observations that don’t bear out in practice. … A lot of people look to bullshite things like that, because it’s a way of explaining away their own prejudices.”

Yea, I get the entire race issue with his comments but he is just drawing attention

Cam basically had nothing to apologize for. What does he have to apologize for? Its not like he did something, got caught doing it but got away with it. If anyone should apologize, its the people who doomed him with no proof. Regardless of the reason.

I dont blame Newton one bit. I would love being able to tell people to STFU with a smile on my face. Regardless of his race

But my comments were to the guy who thought Obama being president would help race relations.

Sorry if I created a black hole.

Eh, it makes them money.

And in the link it isn't Rick & Bubba but their IT guy's thoughts on it.

Yeah. True, but that's kind of a cop out in a way.

Just to illustrate, Kanye West... Absolutely intolerable douchiness, but it makes money.

Earning potential doesn't necessarily excuse crappy.

Yeah, you keep believing that there aren't a shite-ton of people that hate Cam because he's black.

Now would they come out and admit it? No, they would not. Like the excerpt undecided posted, they'll label it something else. Many will use the word "thug" or "ghetto". Because, you see, they think that other people are as dumb as they are and can't see through code words.

That's because Obama is a race baiter, not a race healer. All he does is talk about things that divide people, whether it be race, religion, or sexuality. And when you put that gap into the public consciousness enough then it's going to manifest itself. You can't beat that stuff by dwelling on it. The only way to beat it is to just live your life and do your own thing and respect everybody you come across and don't worry about them if they aren't hurting you or yours. But instead of that, since Obama has been in office I feel genuinely hated by a lot of people just for being white, Christian and a southern man.

There will always be racist. They are no where near the majority though.

It's not the basis for most of the Cam hate.

When I arrived at AU in 1989 as a strapping, muscular, he-god; I was certain that I was going to change the world, just by showing up.

The only thing that changed was ME, and for the better. I was exposed to everything, and every way of doing it. I took what pertained to me, and left the rest.
