Agreed.

No player on this squad should automatically have "2024 starter" next to their name at this point if they aren't named "Alex McPherson".

Bring in competition at every position. At the highest level possible.

Then separate the wheat from the chaff in Spring and Summer.

This team ain't good enough to pencil in starters for NEXT SEASON at this point (with the one exception I noted above).

Agreed. We want a pitcher not a belly itcher.

This just isn't true. This is how you get what's happening with Colorado at the moment.

There are 5 guys (at least, according to this article and I kinda agree) that Auburn needs to do all they can to convince them to stay. Only one that's iffy is Var depending on what happens with the HS WR recruiting. Even then, he is good enough to be a decent slot guy. Then add Hunter to the list because he is a good RB that allows for really good depth behind him and spreads the load around.
Asante
Scott
McLeod
Wade
Var
5 players AU should hold on to

Just back channel Thomas Castellanos at Boston College and get him to be portal, 2000 yards passing and almost 1000 rushing. Put our talent around him and we win. He almost led BC to beat FSU.

Maybe Riley Leonard to Notre Dame isn’t as much a done deal as expected:

From on3:

quote:

Notre Dame and Auburn will be destinations to watch for Duke quarterback Riley Leonard, sources tell @On3sports . The Fighting Irish want to add a quarterback. An Alabama native, playing in the SEC would be attractive. An official timetable has not been set yet by Leonard’s camp, but he is expected to take official visits.

Not nearly to the degree of Todd's. Roman Harper said his arm is stronger than Devin Leary to top that off. So arm strength isnt the issue.

Plenty of people want to bring in another QB to compete with Thorne. Your Thorne hate is weird though.

This throw is a frozen rope. LINK

Well yeah, Todd had shoulder surgery. But Throne’s is the weakest since Todd. Maybe Sean White.

I wish.. I wanted him from HS. That roster is horrible and the head coach is worse. He carried that team. I don't think he can transfer though. He went to UCF and transferred to Boston College. Until he graduates I don't think he can transfer.

What doesn't show up in a stat line is Payton Thorne lowering his shoulders and delivering punishment on bama linebackers for a 1st down. That is more than enough for me.

What a fricking low standard. JFC.

Reminder - while W/L matters above all else,

Didn’t we go 6-6? Didn’t we lose to NMSU by 3 touchdowns with Thorne as the QB? WTF are you talking about?

We can do a lot better. We knew that when he ended up being the QB transfer last year. Now all the sudden because he lowered his shoulder, we’re willing to sacrifice a passing game to coddle his feelings?

Like another guy said, if Thorne is so good, he should be able to beat out who we need bring in.

I argued for Thorne when people burned him at the stake. I’m now arguing against him now that y’all don’t want a transfer. Quit being emotional and look at it rationally.

I think what I’d say is it’s Very likely that some of thornes symptoms this year were similar to another QB we had not so long ago that transferred and is now in the running for a Heisman trophy. We haven’t had a wide receiving core for a minute. I wouldn’t mind letting thorne throw to an upgraded receiving core to see how it goes but I don’t mind the idea of adding Leonard. I would take him because it adds not only quality depth, but he’s potentially if not definitely better than what we have.

He was 15-19 completions wise against NMST and was hardly the reason why the defense couldnt get off the field against them. He did decent against Bama. Id be okay with him competing and winning the job against actual QBs. not competing against safeties or WR.

I don’t know if I watch the same games as some of y’all. Go look at Bo’s stats while he was here. Most on here did not give him the credit he deserved.

That’s the problem. You can’t just “see how it goes”. What if it doesn’t work out? We’re stuck with Thorne the rest of the season and we’ll have wasted another season. The same people who are arguing for Thorne now will start getting restless with Freeze and put him on the hot seat.

There’s a lot of guys that are potentially if not definitely better than Thorne in the portal. So why is it limited to Leonard. I don’t get it.

QBR of 30. But I only brought it up because Free said wins and losses are all that matter as a point in Thornes favor somehow…

We can go get a QB that is the reason we win games yet we’re trying to settle for a guy that you have to argue he didn’t lose us games.

If Freeze doesn’t go get a transfer QB to compete with Thorne, I would look at him completely differently.
