I just got back from Vegas this morning. Took the redeye last night after 5-6 days out there.

Now I have to look into turning around and going back in a few weeks.

FWIW, I stayed at Planet Hollywood and watched the SECCG there. There were probably a half dozen Mizzou people in the sportsbook watching the game, probably 100 or so people in total. A lot with money on the game, most on mizzou from the crowd reactions. Can't imagine it packed out with Aubies for the BCSNCG, would probably be a hell of a party.

We just finalized our plans. We're flying to Vegas on Saturday the 4th, and taking the Rally Bus down to Cali for the game. We're going to be staying at Paris (I think that's what I was told) or the Cosmopolitan on the strip. Look out Vegas, Auburn fans are gonna take over!

I'll be figuring it out later this week. Starting a new job and need to make sure it will be ok to take a few days off so early.

Paris is cool. It is perfect location and the casino area is a lot of fun and sorta unique (you will have no idea if it is day or night if you party hard as the ceilings are a blue sky with a pretty large eiffel tower replica that extends up through the ceiling). Also, they have live stage music many nights, there is a nightclub upstairs that is decent, and multiple bars inside the casino. It is in between two other casinos (ballys and planet hollywood) and all interconnected with tons of shops and resturants. All owned by Cesars entertainment. I was in Paris last night so it is pretty fresh in my mind.

Cosmo is more upscale and nice, but calmer and more expensive. The downstairs bar at cosmo is one of the best on the strip, but again, very upscale and more laid back, get very dressed up and sorta chill. I like it as a starter but not party bar. Also, Cosmo is right across from PH (planet hollywood).

FWIW, Planet Hollywood is the best partying casino IMO (some are better for gambling, some partying). Young hip crowd and just a hell of a lot of fun 24/7 (literally, doesn't matter what day it is though Fri and Sat take it to another level).

I'll be at PH if I go.

That's exactly what my friend told me (he's a Bama fan). He said Paris was one of the best ones to stay at bc of it's atmosphere and location.

Well if you go, we'll have to meet up for a drink. See if I can tone down your anger issues in person better

Any other recommendations for me? I've never been to Vegas. I know I want to check out the Ice Bar and possibly ride one of the rides at stratosphere. Other than that, I have no idea WTF to do in Vegas. Lol

I was actually with a bama alum (and a couple of others, non bama) the past several days at PH.

Sure. I'm pretty much happy or hungover in Vegas and not too agitated.

Sure, I can make recommendations over the next few days/weeks. I've been a couple of times in just the past 6 weeks and it looks like maybe a third time now (depending on new job thingy). Vegas obviously has everything and it is different depending on the season (summer vs winter).

If you are talking night clubs, Surrender is my favorite in the summer because it is a massive outdoor nighttime pool party with most people dressed to go out. Just really pretty with cabana's and stuff. Too cold right now though. Hakansan (at the MGM) and Tao (at the Venetian) are probably the top ones now.

Favorite bar to start the night is probably actually Cosmo. It is cool, pretty and a good place to get a drink, start the night or end the night. Inside of Paris is actually pretty entertaining as well. You may find you want to just spend a night at the bars and stuff in Paris casino considering you can also wander next door to a pretty cool PH scene and across the street to Cosmo. Ignore Ballys. It is next to Paris, but old and shitty IMO.

Dunno if you or your friends gamble, but personally I like both Paris and PH for gambling. Table limits are reasonable (like $5-$25 at Paris and $15-$100 at PH). Other casinos like the Wynn and Venetian are pretty (actually like the Venetian vibe in its casino and it is worth going to just for the scene inside the casino and people watching there - about a 8-10 minute walk from Paris), but the table limits are higher. Also, I would say spend one night just walking down the strip. Paris and PH are the perfect location because you can pretty easily just walk from PH, to Paris, to Ballys, to Flamingo, to Harrahs, to the Venetian, to Palooza. For a first trip I recommend at least just walking the strip and in and out of the casinos and bars all next to each of them. All of them really are different with different types of people.

Also, Cesar's, Nobu, and the Bellagio are all across the street from Paris and PH. I don't wander over to those much though. I get reward points and comps from gambling so I keep my action to the cesar properties in general so I can get the free or cheap rooms and so forth.

Awesome

And we gamble, but we're not high rollers or anything, so we'll need the lower table limits

Per the Bellagio: I just want to watch the water fountain show. We definitely plan on wandering around on the strip. That's why we specifically booked a room on it.

Thanks for the tips TnM

Paris is good then. Very reasonable table limits and not a high roller type place. PH is similar but they are a bit higher with a high limit room. Bally's, Flamingo, Margaritaville, and Harrahs all have the lowest limit tables. Bellagio, Cosmo, Venetian, Wynn, ande Encore are you primary higher limit casinos. They are SUPER nice and fun just to check out, enjoy a drink and people watch in, but no so much for lower risk gambling.

If you got a strip facing room from the Paris you will be staring right at it every 15 minutes or so. Even if you didn't, staying at the Paris you will see it to your heart's content everytime you walk outside and go anywhere.

Im not doing Vegas this time. We did that in 2010. We are flying in to San Fran on Friday afternoon. Going to stay down town on Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night. Then spend Sunday, Sunday night and half the day Monday driving down the coast to Pasadena. Always wanted to do that.

Planning on arriving at the game around 2-3…. Heading out on Tuesday around lunch..

Im trying to research what to do in San Fran and what to see along the coast now…

What are the prices for tickets going for? I've seen anywhere from 900-1600 a piece foe upper end zone east. Is anyone finding better rates?

Dude, that sounds very high… I got my tickets through Auburn so I only paid face value. I have a very good friend who is a letterman. I would think anything over 500 each would be high. There will be more tickets available this time so they should be a little less.

Of course in 2010, they got stupid close to game time.

I just wanna see Kobe and the Staples Center. It's expensive as hell to see the Lakers when they come to Atlanta or Memphis

That would be cool. I went to see him play the Hawks in ATL last season. It was the game he was injured in.
