I'm not saying what caddy is or isn't but how can you judge him with the hand he's been dealt? Our offensive line recruiting and performance has been atrocious since he's been here. What is he supposed to sell or coach to combat that?

Kiffin has only been DC 1 time at FAU for his brother. Very little experience actually calling a defense. Mostly been Dline coach. Arnette much better choice to me.

Nix has to call plays or owes a buy-out.

Very curious how that language is worded and would be enforced. Not sure what would stop us from putting him in the box as Hugh’s eyes and let Hugh actually call plays.

From Chris Low article on ESPN...

quote:

With Freeze taking over play-calling duties, the plan now is to move Kent Austin to quarterbacks coach after he served in a quality control role at Auburn in 2023 and special assistant to the head coach. Austin, a former quarterback at Ole Miss, was with Freeze at Liberty as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Austin previously worked in the CFL as a head coach and general manager and was also the Cornell head coach from 2010-12

If true, then it for sure sounds like the plan is to either find an off the field role for Cadillac or help him get another job/promotion, and then bring in Nix as OC/RB coach.

That’s exactly what I think is happening.

Offensive minded Auburn coach hires a good OC, OC doesn't mesh, coach fires OC and promotes his own guy from within (or, hires a guy to hold a clipboard), rinse and repeat.

From what I understand, Kent Austin is a pretty good quarterbacks coach -- it's just that the above process has become a little tiresome to me.

Dilly is already HC and supposedly graded as highest rated first year HC.

Doubt he was being serious
