LOL, argue your freaking point.

Green-Beckham is MUCH more talented than Coates. Why are you surprised that a team was willing to gamble on Top 10 talent?

Coates shoulda have come back for another year.

Don't get me wrong, I love Coates. Great guy, physical freak, and one of my favorites AU players in recent years... buut I'm perfectly okay with him leaving early. Almost glad in fact. He's provided some of the most exciting plays for Auburn over the last two years, but some of the most frustrating as well. Scored big time TDs, but also killed drives and momentum. I'll take consistency from a WR over big play potential all day every day. I'd rather trust a WR to come down with the ball than hold my breath and pray he doesn't drop the easiest most wide open pass.

Everyone should've seen this coming.

Marshall- not an NFL QB and unproven at CB.

Dismukes- solid C. Got showed up in the national title game.

Wright- disappeared and wildly inconsistent during his 4 years.

Coates- beat opponents with sheer athleticism and talent. Questions about hands in a deep WR draft.

Blackson - liked by many NFL teams but as a late round guy

I mean are we surprised we didn't have a first rounder, or even one by now? I figured coates is late 3rd round pick at earliest

We are only sending six players and none of them are super stars. Next year will be different, especially if Boom can turn the defense around

They drafted Martavis Bryant last year who was very similar to Coates as well (great athleticism and deep threat, lots of drops in college) so this isn't shocking. Good spot for him.

Finally!!! Love how they compared him to P. Burress.

Steelers got a deal.

How many RB's are going ahead of CAP? Did we really have weak RB last year? Matt Jones of Florida just got drafted

Feeling good about the obvious upgrade AU will have at the RB position this year.

Its a system offense bro. Anyone we put back there will put up yards and touchdowns.

CAP is a ~4th-5th round type talent.

This sounds good, but do you have an example of "just anyone" being productive in it?

The issue with CAP is that he just doesn't wow anyone. He was a solid back that was good for 5-6 yards but he never made multiple guys miss and he very rarely broke anything for a big gain. Nothing in his skill set was great and his combine numbers don't make people say woah this guy can be a huge hit in our offense.

This should have ended the thread.

Surprised Pittsburgh took a gamble on Sammie Coates with them already having a lot of good wide receivers with solid speed. They will torch some more defenses in 2015.

They showed a list of Steelers' third round WR picks. It was good company for Sammie to be in.
