Its hard to stay posi when you know that Gus is incapable of turning it around.

Its like watching Johnson play Qb. All the skills are there, but mentally, he's checked out.

Let me play devil's advocate -

Do we really care about anything but winning at sports anymore? I look at the football "student athletes" coming from JUCO and wonder. Have you seen the kids on the basketball team? When a kid improves to a 20 on the ACT and it has to be investigated, you know they are not scholars. So now we bring these kids in off the street to win games and we blame the coach because we THINK he might have known and let it slide? frick that. We KNOW Petrino screwed around on his wife, hired his mistress, lied to the police about a felony. How can we split hairs on that. You either care or not you either want to be Vandy or Bama, pick one and STFU. Do you think either of them would do it again? Does anyone care?

Truthfully I like to think Gus is a good guy and he tries to hold us to a better standard, it makes it easier to make my donations every year. I want to see him stay around for years and get things turned around. Would not really mind Briles making a stop as OC during his rehab stint to being a new head coach, but my "we are better than Bama" side does not want him to be the head coach ever.

I read that quick recap and it sounds a lot like what went on at FSU. I still think it paints Briles as a pos just like it did Jimbo. just weird how the media crucified Briles and let Jimbo off so easy.

Briles was paid the remainder of his contract. You don't do that if he was completely to blame for the situation. 20 MM is a ton of cash to pay.

One good thing is that Briles doesn't have a buy out and he'd probably jump at the opportunity to coach at Auburn so we could possibly get him for less than we are paying Gus.

If he is the OC that works too.

Yes please. I'll take briles as OC or HC. I know I'm just gonna get my hopes up only to be disappointed later.

You might if subsequent litigation would provide information 1) we already know about Briles AND 2) information we don't know about other failures at Baylor.

Anyway, it won't matter, AU will get killed for it and I'm tired of that kind of attention.

Fogger I grew tougher skin during the Cam debacle. I really don't give a crap what the press puts out there. Period!

So what would having Briles as OC for a year really accomplish? Wouldn't imagine he'd be around more than Muschamp was and then it's back to SNAFU again.

I don't really want to return to that, but so did I. But in the Cam debacle, we had good reason to believe we were doing the right thing. With Pearl, we had no reason to think he hadn't served adequate penalty for his minor crime.

With Briles, I just don't know all the facts, and likely wouldn't. I don't mind being in a position to defend someone knowing at least most of the truth. I don't want to have to defend someone who may well be guilty of having been a very bad human being not very long ago.

Even with Petrino, I know what he did, I know how long he served some punishment for it, etc.

Honestly I wouldn't care If he's one and done. Because just like what appears to have happened with muschamp a foundation was laid. The next year we hired for continuity and nothing else and man has it helped. Hire em and let's get the ball rolling.

According to an article I read, the longhorns and other rivals pretty much are responsible for the negative press.

I don't understand the folks saying if Briles is brought in to Auburn that it will end ur support for Auburn football. Do you really think Auburn will care? No! Football is about money now and winning. Morals.. not so much.

ESPN just posted this.

AUSTIN, Texas -- A federal judge has dismissed former Baylor football coach Art Briles and athletic director Ian McCaw from a lawsuit brought by woman who said they and the school ignored her claims that she was raped by a former player

I can't post I all but is on their page. It says she's still going on go after Briles and the AD

Neuheisel is talking out of his arse. If Briles comes, hopefully it will be as a consultant we hire his son. Lashlee is a walking dead man.

first off - technically It was 2012 and petrino was unemployed. but instead we went with Gus

2nd - Art Briles probably won't take anything less than a HC job assuming he still wants to get back into coaching. if someone like Auburn doesn't hire him he'll probably go the mid major route with a BYU type team.

OT I just read brile's name has been dropped from the lawsuit against baylor
