If rumors are true there will be no choice but to play him. And there is no tomorrow after the IB so they need to cut him loose and see what shakes out. He may give up 3 picks and 2 fumbles, but if he scores 6 times we win. Just need some RB to be 100% and ready to go.

"There is no tomorrow for you, and that makes you all very dangerous people!"

My opinion, I say we treat these last three games like the pre season for next year. Play WB, see what he has, and build on the future. No reason to waste the next month and a half.

Sounds like they won't though.

In that case, I think you take all the training wheels off JF3 and see if he can make any case for the spot next year. I don't see how trotting out a banged up SW with nothing on the line is going to help.

If JF3 shows a spark, maybe that is good (it could also be bad if he temporarily shows signs of life and adds more confusion to next year).

If he doesn't, fine, put no stock in him being in the running next year and move on to WB and Stidham with White as the "I really hope one of these guys takes the job clearly" third option. And I like SW fwiw.

I can agree with this. Nothing to lose. We know SW is ineffective with his injury. Just go balls to the wall and let JF have an open playbook.

This! The kid can run like the wind and if they know he will throw it they have to give him room. Even against Bama's semi-pro defense he is the fastest guy on the field. He is also pretty cocky, so he might have it in him.

JFIII still appears to have a higher upside than SW even in the limited time we have seen.

SW is a gamer, accurate, etc...but there is almost zero chance he has the physical tools in any offense to put a team on his shoulders and lead them to victory when a D full of NFL prospects line up across from him.

Put down the bong.

in the end he has shown enough to me to wonder what it would have been like if they had no choice but to play him.
We saw this exact scenario in the first half of the Vandy game. The result was six yards passing. That pile of shite gave you reason to wonder what might have been?

I've said it before: obviously the coaches need to step things up overall, but right now they'd be looking alot smarter if the WRs didn't whiff on every catchable ball that came their way against UGA. I'd argue that the WRs were a bigger letdown than the coaching, and had they put in the same effort as the injured skill players & defense, a 10-win season would be a much more reachable goal than it is now.

He was also a guarantee that we wouldn't push seriously for Atlanta nor will he ever be.
And yet if he had been healthy against UGa we would almost certainly be one game away from Atlanta.

Granted, even with a healthy SW, KJ and Bubba, beating Bama would be a tall order. But to say we had no chance at winning the West with SW behind center is demonstrably false.

As was ya boy 3 who blew the trip to Tampa in game one.

See how this works.... ya take one half truth, spin it back arse-wards... and post more illogical bullshite for folks to comment on. American Way, the right to be equally wrong as equally right.

Why can we not hire someone that has demonstrated through time that he objectively knows how to properly manage a major division 1 program. Our athletic department should not be running a jobs program for the wholly unqualified.

Who would that be? Petrino? He just got smoked by Houston. Speaking of Houston, they collapsed mid-season before coming back and beating an unprepared Louisville. So scratch Tom Herman and Petrino off the list.

Who else is there? I don't know of any proven coach that just excites me, at least not any that AU has any chance of landing. Urban Meyer? Nope. Harbaugh? Nope. They ain't leaving their schools. Art Briles? I'll pass. For one, the media would destroy us. For two, I am not so sure he would be any better than Gus anyway.

IMO, Gus just needs a QB. It's not rocket surgery here. Bammer probably isn't undefeated without Hurts. TAMU probably would have a lot more losses without Knight. Ole Siss wouldn't be what they've been the past two years offensively if not for Swag Kelly. Strange how good QB's make an offense go, isn't it?

Gus knows the league and he knows what it takes to win in the west. He even knows how to put up yards and points against bammer. He has brought in the best recruiting classes we've probably ever had over a 4 year span. He also has our defense on the right track, playing as well as they've played in close to a decade. Do we really want to go through yet another staff change?
