Do you think your train of thought was somehow original?

Did I claim to be the Pablo Picasso of internet comments? I'm done with this.

How so? I like the guy. I like his coaching. I like his recruiting. I like that he's moving on. I like that we (hopefully) get to bring someone else that can broaden the offensive/QB potentials.

Those aren't mutually exclusive ideas, they can all co-exist in a person like me, a perfect cross section of the terrible nature of our fanbase.

I love this, tbh. My initial reaction was excitement and that hasn't changed.

A fresh mind, with new ideas, and new energy. We have Gus' ideas already, we don't need a double dose with Rhett being here. He brings nothing but what Gus already knows.

I think/hope he's going to hire a legit, serious OC, who will bring a new perspective. I think someone with an outside view of Gus' offense the past few years could recommend a few tweaks while bringing their own expertise and we could take off. I'm excited.

BUT...

all that goes away if we name Kodi the main guy

If we hire some no name or promote from within then that means Gus is in trouble with the higher ups and it scared RL off. If we hire someone bigger then it might mean RL was squeezed out.

Agreed. Definitely aren't losing someone that's not easily replaceable.

This is good for Lashlee. Bad for Auburn

If Jacobs is here in 2020, we're screwed anyway.

He's always been the favorite scapegoat. I will say though I think the last 2 years have shown that the Lashlee/Gus pairing might have peaked and it's time for some fresh blood. I wish him the best because he is a really good dude and I will be interested to see how he does up at UCONN. Hoping this shakeup knocks Gus out of his rut but we will see....

If he gets just another yes man we won't see any difference. Maybe Gus learnt this year that the offense ran better without him in the middle and let's the new guy do his own thing on the field.

One issue here is, who made the decision? If the decision to send Lashlee packing was not Gus and came from someone else (Jacobs,Lowder, Uncle MIlty, Yellow wood dude, Dye, Captain Kirk), then Gus could have some resentment and things will not mesh well.
