You get blinded by adrenaline. You really don't know how many times you shoot. The guy was either really scared, or new to guns. I was ~10 when I would do this.

making some bigger picture statement about this unfortunate incident is misguided, imo.
I don't necessarily disagree.
It was only a few years ago that those guys pulled off an armed robbery using Dyer's gun.
Every team is going to have players who make bad decisions to some degree—it's human nature. I just wonder why there have been two gun related incidents with Auburn players within the past three years, and three if you count the shooting that happened two years ago.

I'm from the area, date a girl from Opelika. Word travels fast in southern small towns.

I would have preferred a third repeat post than reading that.

well, we've had two gun related events in 5 years, assuming mitchell was in fact carrying (the other being the armed robbery)... i don't see how you can count the situation that led to christian and phillips deaths.
When you take into account all the players who have come through the program in that five year span (couple hundred probably), to have two incidents where players where carrying guns is two too many... but at least that puts it into context.

Shooting a silhouette target is not anywhere near the same as shooting at a person that you think is going to shoot you.

Whatever happened to guys beating the shite out of each other, then having a beer together a day or two later? Damn this gangsta culture!

Every story has a back story. That really is a shame.

The article is poor. It reads like the detective stated that witnesses on the scene said he exchanged fire. Does that mean other evidence collaborated those statements?
