One name has been coming to mind since around 9:30 last night
We really should try and throw some money at him as a "consultant" to help out the passing game.

I thought Gus called the plays and Lashlee squirts the water bottle into Gus's mouth. When did Lashlee start calling plays?

You want some fun 'n' gun?

I have a feeling Spurrier would laugh his arse off at some of the shite we do to develop our qbs.

I would like competent quarterback development

Sure seemed to me that he was calling plays in the SJS game.

Just keep Lashlee as towel boy for Gus. However, we should consider buying the coaches the Tony Franklin system DVDs.

Lashlee holds the bag of double bubble for Gustav.

Smuphy and I had a twitter chat about this. The issue with the offense is in the middle school level passing game/amateur receiver route trees + reads
The realistic option that stands out would be Major Applewhite at Houston. Applewhite's track record is roughly above average but there are things about Applewhite that would make him fit very well with Gus Malzahn
-Applewhite already runs a similar offense at Houston that incorporates some of Gus' philosophy/schemes
Houston HC Herman took some of Auburn's schemes and merged it with Urban Meyer's system. Applewhite as Herman's OC is being exposed to a very similar system to what Malzahn wants to run
Applewhite can develop our QBs & passing game
While he may not be the QB savant that Scot Loeffler was, Applewhite at least understands the QB position and the reads + routes necessary to have a goodpassing game
Houston's passing game/QB has been solid under Applewhite. Applewhite has a background as a former record setting QB (not under Gus) and clearly at least has a grasp on dynamic routes/intermediate passing game.
Applewhite isn't going to demand control of offense
Applewhite has either been a Co-OC or under an offensive coach with a system every step of the way. Right now he is under former OC Tom Herman at mid level Houston. Gus isn't giving up the offense and Applewhite won't threaten Gus
Applewhite is a solid recruiter
Applewhite was one of the key recruiters at Texas while they were consistentl assembling top 5 classes despite losing seasons
Additionally, Applewhite has ties to Texas which is where a large number of elite QBs come from.

TL;DR
Applewhite is a guy who is exposed to Gus' style, can add complexity and quality to our passing game while not trying to overhaul Gus' system.
It would be like getting Gus' system with a passing game that doesn't make you want to throw pu

The OC at Boise State was a GA At auburn (and maybe ark state?) under Gus... can't remember his name, but he seems to be doing well there under Harsen.

What makes you think we'll be getting a new OC?
Posted on 10/13/15 at 4:12 pm to lowspark12
The only issue with Eliah Drinkwitz (Boise OC) is he has never been a QB coach before this year and still relying on Harsin's QB technical knowledge
If he had another year under Harsin learning QB reads/mechanics/footwork, I'd like it.

Rush Probst. He learned his offense from Hal Mumme

I'd look to poach Art Briles' son away from Baylor, but I doubt he'd leave considering he was just promoted to OC. His son was a record setting QB in HS and played (and coached) WR in college. Baylor's passing game is one that I believe we can learn from, and they've developed some dominant receivers.

I love Briles, his offense and air raid concepts in general metafour, the issue is getting them to mesh with Auburn's scheme. Specifically in blocking philosophy (which is a huge deal)
Auburn's offense has a man blocking scheme that wins with numbers. This is achieved by having pulling OL and HBack. Baylor's offense is a zone blocking scheme which is considerably different. The reason this is a huge deal is OL splits. Auburn runs standard OL splits while Baylor follows Leach's Air Raid philosophy of having very wide OL splits.

Nothing happened. They are just dreaming.
