He's right man. You take out all the mistakes and areas we didn't improve and we played near flawless football Saturday.

Do you think 5 fumbles will happen again? Your answer should be no. It could but it's not likely. So theoretically you can remove that when you're looking forward because we shouldn't have the same issue. When you remove that you see an offense that moved the ball at will. I mean 500+ yards is impressive especially considering we didn't even get to complete 5 of our drives.

BUT it was Mercer so I don't know if we can really take that much away from it.

12 sacks last week

5 fumbles this week

4 interceptions next week?

150 yards in offensive penalties?

4 quarterbacks inserted at odd points in the ball game?

Enough with the "ifs". We have not played consistently good offensive football since Nick Marshall and Tre Mason were suitin' up.

Pretty sure we can rule this one out.

We don't have 4 quarterbacks.

I am not quite to the point where I can say we will be OK, but the fact Clemson demolished Louisville gives me some hope that perhaps we're not as bad as we think.

If we turn the ball over in a game again FIVE times we will lose said game. We have to improve drastically, and with the quickness. This was the easiest game on our schedule and we looked like hot pressed dog shite. When your AA kicker is missing chips, that should also tell you something - our locker room is in a bad state right now. How will the players and coaches respond? I don't know. But this is starting to feel like 2012 with a better defense.

Can we just all admit that none of us know the state of the locker room? Why do we make this shite up when we don't perform up to expectations?

Also we use the same tired lines over and over. This is just like people in the middle of the Mercer game saying "looks like the defense is giving up" every time they picked up a first down.

I swear some of you enjoy 3-9 seasons the most.

Moving the ball between the 20s against Mercer at will does not equal improvement... not punching the ball in for tds within the red zone will get us beat routinely, see Clemson as evidence

He's still holding the ball wall to long and not throwing his wr's open out of their breaks. He's waiting until they get clear separation. That won't happen against teams not named Mercer

Turnovers and sloppy play ruined the very real improvement on offense this past weekend. At the game, it looked like Stidham was holding on to the ball too long, but after rewatching the game on TV, he actually delivered the ball on time on the majority of his passes. Granted it was MERCER, but still.

Biggest issue moving forward will be our offensive line. Darius James is down and Tega's head is spinning. JUCO center is rusty and Golson hasnt taken a live rep at RT since his freshman year.

Another major issue is ball security from our WRs. What the frick is Kodi teaching these kids? Route running is also lazy

I think all of this is true, but as I was trying to explain to someone the other day, it was a very slow, clunky performance to get to 500 yards.

My best guess is that the goal was to slow everything down, allow Stidham to be very deliberate in moving through reads, etc., because at full speed against better opposition things weren't clicking. If so, it's not a bad idea, but it's still very unclear whether we can be productive on offense against teams with a pulse.

Faster, bigger defenses are not going to let Pettway slowly stroll to the LOS and still pick up a few yards. Stidham won't have 8 seconds to get to his 4th receiving option, etc.

I hope this is the next step to becoming a well oiled machine on offense, but still a long way to go.

I think as others have said it is just the way we played 5 turnovers or not we only led by a field goal at halftime and if our receivers have a difficult time getting open or catching passes against Georgia Southern and Mercer. do folks really see it getting better for SEC Play?
