It's obviously what the students/players want. No one is required to participant in anything that they don't want to participate in.

Not necessarily. I got tricked into an FCA meeting at Auburn under the guise of a team meeting. It wasn't painted as an optional meeting. I walked out. Luckily I was enough of a scrub that it didn't matter.

Was it that bad that you couldn't have suffered through it in the corner? Hell I could attend a Hillary Clinton rally, just sit in the back and wait til it gets over. Things like this are good for team chemistry.

Why should i have had to? I'm not a Christian and it had absolutely nothing to do with the team, my teammates or team chemistry at all. I wouldn't go have gone at all if they had been honest about what it was and then it wouldn't be an issue.
I don't have a problem with Chette being there or doing what he does. There are probably some young men there who need that kid of thing. But to include it as a team activity isn't right in my opinion.

I don't know exactly how auburns finances work but what if he is funded not by the state but by the athletic departments own budget and boosters? I thought that is how their corporate airplanes work, they're AD owned and not State funded but made available for internal "charters" by the AD.

Maybe I'm wrong and readily admit to that. I just don't think CTT would've started this without dotting every T and crossing every I.

We're talking about the same guy who hired Tony Franklin to totally overhaul his offense on a recommendation and a 5 minute interview

I didn't know Chette was even still around. Ever since Tubs left, he's never heard from. I wish Gus would have BCW more involved a la the "hard fighting soldiers" team.

Or you went to a meeting that you didn't ask any questions about beforehand and nobody beat you with crosses on your way out after you made an adult decision to leave

There's a bunch of ways to paint pictures depending on the Artist's mood. Being Asian, I have friends with a variety of beliefs spanning from Catholics to Buddhists and it's an adjustment for a lot of us when we live in the south and befriend people with christian beliefs. I got invited to a ton of "dinners" at Auburn that ended up being small-group pizza parties or theological discussions. I could probably say I was tricked most of the time but more often than not I just didn't ask any questions because I was invited by a professor or some chick I was trying to sleep with

ETA: And I'm not trying to say you're being dishonest or naive or whatever. I just think that people in the south especially don't really think about people having different beliefs because it's pretty homogeneous in Lee County, Alabama And so a dinner or meeting to them is maybe different than what I expect a dinner or meeting to be

No just told there was a team meeting. It was my first week with the team and I didn't know any better (and was was scared to ask too many questions)

Of course not

I didn't grow up in the bible belt and if we even had an FCA, it wasn't very popular. I also grew up with people from a lot of different backgrounds, but don't ever remember anybody pushing their beliefs on us.

It wasn't a big deal, I just left (I wasn't the only one) and nobody mentioned it again. None of my friends on the team ever went back to FCA as far as I knew.

I got duped into Amway meetings (or similar) a couple of times when I was younger too. I can sniff that shite out now from a mile away

How so? What would the FCA have taught me about life, and raising great kids, and working hard, volunteering that I do quite well right now?
I assure you that I live a much more full and vital life than some of the hypocrites that chose to stay.

That's a pretty shitty thing to say, btw. I would expect better here and from you. I'm sorry I don't believe the same things you do.

I think we need to make sure nobody gets the wrong impression.

Hire several Chaplains, and take an ad in the NYT to announce it!!
