What was his reasoning? When we win, can we officially kick him to the curb?

My paraphrase of his comments: "I predicted Oregon to win 28-21. Going into last season I kind of had a similar feeling with Washington as I do here... but the difference is Justin Herbert is such a much better QB than Jake Browning and he hurt Auburn with his passing. Until Auburn can be more consistent defensively, I have to go with Oregon."

The thing he didn't really acknowledge in his analysis, though, was that Washington's receiver corps was in much better shape than Oregon's coming into game 1. Injuries have really hurt them there. Granted, if Herbert can connect with his new receivers, we could be in some trouble but hopefully the DL can neutralize him before that happens.

Just Marcello being Marcello.
He did say that his sources said our coaching staff is very confident in our chances of winning.

But that’s not the kind of information that I particularly care for.

Marcello is an idiot. The past several years, Auburn has started the season very strong defensively. I just think back to the Georgia Southern, Clemson, and Washington games the past couple years, and we have had dominant defensive performances in each of those games, despite little help from our offense in two of them. Heck we didn’t allow more than 23 points in a game last season until the middle of October.

So any prediction that has Oregon putting up 4 touchdowns against our dline and secondary, with hardly anybody for Herbert to throw to, is just stupid imo.

I like Auburn 24-13 in this game.

I rewatched the UW game the other day - their WRs made some absolute circus catches, particularly on one TD drive. They were 1 out of 5 type catches. With Oregon's WR depth issues, I'm not that concerned.

It's insane the catches that are made against us every year. Hell, last season it seemed like every week. Corner can be in perfect position, and the WR does a double back handspring, catches it with their pinky finger and drags a toe to stay in bounds.

I’m curious to see if we are able to consistently get after the QB in third and long situations. That’s what was missing the most last year.

Same here. I’m not sure how mobile Herbert is. Hopefully the more athletic linebackers this year will be able to aid in blitzing.

Feel your pain...

Here's to hoping with better passing to practice against those might be fewer and further between.
