Seems like a good hire. A salty veteran coach who knows how to produce. Not sure of his recruiting abilities, but he has talent to work with on field.

Don't care right now. I probably shouldn't still be pissed off about the bowl game, but I am.

We have lost some big hitters on the recruiting trail in the last 2 seasons.

D. Craig
Trob
Boom
McGriff

And we got Yes Man Kodi Burns and the football version of Bob Ross to replace them.

I believe Missouri led SEC in interceptions last year.

He and Steele were at Bama together in '13. Probably played a role in being hired.

Can you imagine being a dB from Miami and Kevin Steele and Greg Brown coming into your home to recruit you

Personally I would've liked to see us go younger... this feels kinda like Melvin Smith hire back when Gus was putting his staff together.

Recruiting probably isn't his strong suite... but the good news he should have some talent to work with.

its a terrible hire. There is a 99 percent chance he will not be coaching at Auburn next year based on his track record.

If Gus is coaching for his life like everyone insists then who cares

I'm convinced that unless we hired Nick Saban to be DB coach, then it was always going to be a terrible hire in some of yalls eyes

That is part of coaching. There is a large subsection of coaches with a career like Brown. Kevin Steele is an easy example. Petrino is another. Bucs HC Dirk Koetter is another.

I don't mind the hire. I think Gus took the easy route tho. We may have have missed on others like mcgee from UGA but we'll probably never know. My only concern is that we've lost 4 stud recruiters and haven't filled that void.
It wont matter though because Gus will be fired next year.

Love when the same people that bitched about the McGriff hire are the ones that bitch when he leaves
Honestly I think you just like to be a contrarian.

Hire is whatever, I guess. It'd be nice to have a great DB recruiter since we've struggled to land big names at that position, but hopefully this guy's level of experience will help the staff.

Ironically:

Has helped lead to this:

Our fanbase fricking sucks right now and has for the last two years. What coach wants to come into a situation where the fans won't shut the frick up about firing a coach that just went to the Sugar Bowl, or took them to a national championship a few years back? i certainly wouldn't want to come into a situation where the fans are so rabid they want to chew up a good coach that is still winning games at a higher rate than they ever had.
