I was a Gus fan when he came aboard. I am a Harsin fan because he chose to come here and I will be a fan of the next coach as well until he proves to be a bum too. Once again, firing someone after one year is beyond idiotic and should NEVER be under consideration unless he was fricking the chick. Being mean tho? Gtfo

Totally disagree.

If Harsin is showing HOW he recruits, and because of his lack of interacting and relating to his coaches and recruits, then recruiting is going into a tailspin, and that IS what will kill us.

I don't care if it one year, if he is not able to sustain the recruiting we need(and the evidence others have been frustrated with that we are already seeing now and the future of AU recruiting), then the admin and PTB simply have to bite the bullet let him move on to somewhere else.

Assistant Coaches can't take a verbal beating at their pay? Give me a break. Saban reams his assistants.... I know Hars doesn't have the rings, but to me it seems like he pushes accountability like the GOAT does

I don't think screaming at coaches is what makes Saban the GOAT. i think it's the perpetual top 3 recruiting classes.

Saban has coaching turnover every year with guys coming and going, and hardly ANYONE has a problem working for him. He is extremely fair. It's actually kind of comical how people convince themselves of his supposed anger and attitude and demeanor. He has NFL coaches on their staff; and he listens to them. He even lets coaches implement changes - kind of like when he went from a boring ball-control offense to a dynamically aggressive passing offense. Harsin seems like a complete authoritarian - he's the smartest guy in the room and you better defer to everything he says and wants. That's completely different

Back to Harsin; he talks a lot of big shite, but how much of it is actually implemented or observed fairly? So he's pushing accountability among the coaches...that's funny, how come all of his guys, even the ones that accomplished barely anything, were promoted? So the only guys who seemingly couldn't meet his accountability demands happened to be the "outsiders"? He promoted Bert Watts to Assistant HC - that guy made a fool of himself on the recruiting trail all year (landed ZERO recruits), and half of his job-title was "Special Teams Coordinator". The 2021 Auburn Special Teams had to be the worst at AU in recent observable history. Just terrible in all aspects; even the kicker was broken. So not only was Watts not "punished", he actually got promoted. For what? Could it be because on gamedays he seemed to be in Harsin's ear every time they flipped to the sidelines, so he's obviously his boy?

Don't preach "accountability" and "we're going to outwork everyone" when Harsin himself is lazy as shite on the recruiting trail. Literally losing recruits left, right, and center because he's not making visits he needs to be making. He's missing important HS football functions. You know who's holding him accountable for that? The boosters, because they can see him tanking the program. I haven't seen Harsin say frick-all about any of his clear missteps and failures.

Anyone comparing anything Harsin to anything Saban is completely naive. That is absolutely laughable.

I don't Harsin is lazy at all, but its the WAY he thinks recruiting should be done, and that makes even worse.

Same with his coaches...and there is crap coming out from Boise and ARk St now, that he's been doing it all along, letting guys go, bc they simply didn't perform the way he wanted them too, eventhough he hired them.

And all these coaches leaving are also recruiters who now after only 1 year, has messed with our continuity in recruiting. Along wit hwhat you said, that Harsin doesn't show up at stuff or doesn't see the need too...

All of your posts are laughable other than your apology yesterday. I'm not comparing them in any way other than being stern.

Difference between being stern and an out and out dick. Saban gets away with more because he gets rings, and his guys move on to head coaching jobs.

179 posts in 9 years? And that was one of them? Probably should have stopped at 178

Harsin will naturally be compared to Saban because of his demeanor, but demeanor doesn’t win football games.

Recruiting is a huge part of the game and Saban has been the best at it for over a decade now. We should copycat recruiting instead.

I think these guys have proven the wrong things we need. Muschamp has proven multiple times he sucks as a HC. And Freeze has proven he's too stupid to use a burner phone.

We didn't go for either one of them, and look at where we are now. A guy who can't/won't recruit. Nobody will work for him, and that includes a dude willing to take a $400K salary cut just to get the Hell out. 3 offensive coordinators in less than 4 months, 2 WR coaches in 6 months.

I'd take my chances with Freeze. We know he can recruit, and we know he can coach. Now that NIL is in place, we don't have to worry about him paying players. Hell, let them buy their own hookers! LOL! Other than those two, who else is out there, this late, that we could get? Another dude, like Harsin, who nobody ever heard of? Maybe a Hawaii HS coach?

If we don't keep him, Freeze is the only option really. Gamble with Mullen? Let Freeze bring him as OC.

One thing is for sure, no more shopping for coaches without any southern tie, unless its a high profile name. Which won't happen.

I don't stoop to your level of posts for numbers.... Give harsin 7 years, the dynasty will be established, right? Again, thanks for apologizing yesterday.

Thanks

You got a guy, Austin Davis, who he hired as OC. He had to have done his background on him, but who the hell knows. It is obvious, having been in the NFL his whole career, he would not have experience recruiting. When they guy comes in and needs help, does Harsin get him help, nope he tears him down and tells him he is terrible for not knowing everything about recruiting. Ok. Then puts the word out after he quits that they guy was not qualified for the position. What?

I don't see how we keep him. Surely the PTB can see that Harsin has been damaged beyond repair. Who is going to work for him? What recruit worth a damn, is going to join that circus?

What was Gus' buyout? Somewhere near $20 million? Harsin has an $18 million buyout! With no one knocking on Freeze's door, we could probably get him cheap, with big incentives. I don't think we could get Bill Clark at this point. The good up and comers, like Napier last year, are going to wait for a much better situation.

If we keep him, you have to think he drops us first chance he gets.

What a mess.
