Sammie getting a lot of critique by the talking heads about his hands and tracking the ball in the air. Unfortunately they ain't wrong.

I predicted Coates would not live up to expectations in the Combine.

How's he looking?

Slower than expected. I mean, he ran a 4.43, but expectations were higher.

Dropped some balls out of breaks.

Didn't track the long ball well and dropped it.

He needed to blow up this combine and he's not doing it.

He's placed himself firmly in the "physical freak but high-risk" boom-or-bust category.

Nick Marshall about to run the 40 I believe.

I saw him drop one pass on a deep ball, then come right back and make a diving play on an out route for a catch. 23 reps of 225 is unreal for a wide receiver his size, and 4.43 is still really good even though it's a little slower than we thought.

Remember, only one team needs to fall in love with Sammie Coates, and he's getting a lot of comparisons to Terrell Owens.

4.6 Nick 1st 40. That is pretty slow for a CB.

Not bad, he seems to have more "football" speed, IMO.

I like him at safety.

ETA: A slower time for him is OK because of length.

I was hoping he would get to 4.40.

I expected Marshall to be faster

A freaky forty would have put him into the late first conversation. He probably goes in the 2nd which is what I expected. Still excited to see his jump numbers.

Yeah I heard Mayock say that too, but we all expected him to be faster than 4.6. Not saying it is a killer at all, just discussing expectations vs result.

Agreed.

I'm curious what he runs the 2nd time.

@JamesCrepea: For context, Cam Newton ran an official 4.59 40, tied for 13th fastest by QBs since 2006.

Famous Jameis runs runs 4.97 & 4.99

Mariotta with a 4.52 to lead the QBs. Marshall had second fastest time

@JamesCrepea: Yes, I know Jameis WInston is a pocket passer and his 4.97 40 isn't relevant. But Greg Robinson ran a 4.92.
