Thought I'd start this thread with the NFL combine coming up. Auburn's participants are:

Nick Marshall
Sammie Coates
Cameron Artis-Payne
Reese Dismukes
Gabe Wright
Angelo Blackson
Jermaine Whitehead

@Gil_Brandt: Only ONE offensive lineman weighed less than 300 lbs during the #NFLCombine weigh-in this morning. Auburn C Reese Dismukes came in at 296.

@AUBlog: After switching to CB at Senior Bowl, Auburn's Nick Marshall will work w/ QBs at NFL Combine w/ alternative DB workouts scheduled, per agent

@AUBlog: Like a few other QBs this year, Nick Marshall is also expected to throw at the Combine. Could be a good chance to show off his strong arm.

Is that bad for Dismukes?

I'm not sure the implications. We will see if it makes him quick for the agility drills.

I'm sure he could easily get over 300 if he wanted to.

Not necessarily. If he shows his bench reps are on par with other centers at the draft he'll be fine. They knew he hovered around 300 before this came out anyways

Is NM just trying to get in at either position? I thought it was pretty much agreed that he couldn't be an NFL QB - why even bother with throwing?

I'm of the opinion that the NFL scouts have done their work and have determined that this year's QB class is horribly weak, so they are now perfectly willing to give NM his opportunity to display his abilities at the position.

I'd love it if he just warmed up throwing with people on opposite 15 yard lines. Just show that he can throw it 70yards

@JamieNewberg: Funny quote from #auburn #wde center Reese Dismukes on the best player he faced in SEC in this notebook LINK

quote:

Dismukes weighs in..

The only offensive line prospect that weighed in under 300-pounds today was Auburn center Reese Dismukes. He tipped the scale at 296-pounds.

“I leaned up and I am not worried about it,” Dismukes said. “I played at over 300 at Auburn and at 285-pounds, although I know the NFL is much different [than college]. I plan on getting up to about 310.”

On a funny note, Dismukes was asked about the toughest defensive linemen he faced in the SEC. He responded with former South Carolina standout Melvin Ingram. ”He was fast. He was quick. And I was a freshman,” Dismukes said.”

I am also into the draft, probably some of the same reasons I'm into recruiting.

Why not? Have you seen some of the garbage the NFL has put at an recently? No way NM could do any worse than Ryan Lindley, EJ Emanuel, Christian Ponder, whatever scrub Tampa used, or Jay Cutler....Marshall is clutch when it counts, that cannot be taught. NM could kill it in Philly with Chip Kelly.
