ATPB = Current OM situation?

For those of us who weren't around for ATPB, how did the Rant activity compare to the current OM threads popping up? Was ATPB worse?

ATPB was more active, with a lot more lies, rumors and innuendo. ATPB was also fed by fake news, hookers, bank fraud and the banking crisis, dog track winnings, murder, government, FBI, anonymous sources, and much more. This is tame by comparison.

I was a lurker. The ATPB thread brought me to tRant. It was way more active. Way more sensationalized. Although a few MSU posters do seem to be convinced it is way worse than it will end up being. Reminds me of Frisco and a few others. "God will not be mocked!"

From Friday to Yesterday was about as active as ATPB, but you have to understand that ATPB went on like that for months. The actual ATPB thread went on for a few years and was still active after being anchored.
The Ole Miss story will fizzle soon once football season starts. A big difference between the two was how ATPB thought it could stop Auburn from winning the national championship. Ole Miss is already done.

Plus the fact that the admins would ban anyone that disagreed with the morons within the ATPB thread (mainly is Auburn fans).
And now, all of a sudden, no more "rumor" threads are allowed, especially when they concern LSU.

Worst was the bullshite they pulled once AU was eventually cleared. Was okay for the non-stop bullshite threads for 2 years, but once AU is cleared, all of a sudden troll threads are not allowed.

Because that thread was so big that it alone was bringing in a visible revenue surge to the site. It was getting linked all over the internet. It brought in so many new posters that the amount of clicks it brought this site was priceless because many of those posters are still here. Chicken definitely rubbed it out to that thread for how it grew his site and his bank account. Obviously TD was very active before, but ATPB is what exploded the growth and traffic to allow the expansion of the SECrant and what the site is today.
So yeah, the OM thing is big and they're getting shite on, but it's not nearly in the stratosphere of ATPB. That thread/ the whole Cam Newton thing and the 2012 conference expansion that brought all the aTm and Mizzou posters are probably the two biggest single things for the growth of this site.

This isn't even remotely like ATPB. There are a couple of distinct differences in the two situations.
1) This thing at OM has been simmering for over a year, the accusations against Cam, that got things started, hit in the middle of the season. Auburn also happened to be ranked in the top 5 and looked likely to be headed to the NCG.
2) Does anybody really give a shite about Ole Miss? I mean besides their fans and MSU? They haven't won an SEC championship since the last year of the Kennedy administration.
As stated earlier, ATPB brought so much traffic to tSECrant, the admins allowed any stupid rumor to be posted, and those stupid rumor threads would get linked by every message board out there, it was insane. One of my favorite days on the rant was when the NCAA gave Auburn a clean bill of health....there were some disappointed folks on here. frick'em.

No doubt, and I know you are serious saying this. Bluefin thrived on his notoriety and it was unreal the time him and others put into "connecting the dots".
They all labeled me a terrorist for posting a gif of a fishing boat blowing up in that thread. I meant it as a metaphor for all their conspiracies being blown out of the water. They all claimed I was threatening Bluefin's life.
it was great. Then I got the admin threat message to stay out.
