Our PTB are the only fricking reason we have a legitimate program.

I swear, some of you guys think you can run an A+ BCS program off of a tip jar at the local goddam Dairy Queen.

One day you will learn, Padawan, that a large portion of AU fans are only happy when they are fricking miserable.

Woah, I asked for what was said nothing else since it was all over Das Boonker. Didn't want this ridiculous discussion

As for what BeatBammer said, you need a ton of Money to run a top tier AD. You are kidding yourself if you think Auburns AD doesn't do the equivalent of putting money in a trash can and setting it on fire. I don't know this high level political stuff but you can find out easy that we ate not spending money wisely

You're a smart guy. You know that when something is all over one site that it's likely to create a ridiculous discussion on another site.

I'd just like to say that I dislike the AD/Karen Hoppa's decision to not let the men's club team play on the stadium field. And frick whatever unrelated political bs has us practicing on the IM fields and the women's club team stuck practicing on the field inside the old track. This felt like the somewhat appropriate place to gripe without starting a new thread no one likes (or wants to see the Vandy logo on the Auburn board).

As for the AD issues in here, can you please stop trying to find a panic button to push? I know what that button looks like. Auburn is in about as good of shape as any AD in the country.

You are a club team. It is a field maintenance issue. If you started to rake in the $ like a revenue sport/Won NCAA championships or were title IX qualified you would be on the stadium field.

We need to make D1 Men's soccer team. We can get the men's scholarships by cutting our baseball team. They suck anyways

Quite a few schools (Bama included) let their teams play at least some games on them. I get why we can't train on it, but 1 or 2 games a year would not be significant (if any) maintenance since the girls are already using it for practice.

The Men's Club Soccer team needs to do a better job at Tryouts... Three days promised, only two days given... If you had a class on Monday, you had zero chance of making the team.

Why not have real tryouts for a couple of weeks?

No one was promised 3 days. We said tryouts would take place over 3 days, but nothing was said that cuts would not be made over those days. If you had a class Monday and communication was made, allowances were made.

As for the length of tryouts, that was likely an issue with field allowance and other university deadlines. I'm just on the team, not a decision maker, so I can't say for sure.

Honestly, the real issue for new guys was the amount of returning talent. We had 2 guys lose a place to new guys, and 3 others did not return for various reasons. The guys who did come back are all high quality players. We have the talent to make a run in the national tournament.

Which schools usually field solid mens club soccer teams? Could our club team beat a Div 3 mens team? Div 2?

Beat a D2 school 2 years ago, I believe. Might have been D3. Also beat Columbus State last year.

As for quality club teams, I'm really not sure. I do know Florida is consistently good. Sorry that I can't be more helpful. We're pretty consistent too. Went to nationals 2 years ago. Last year we were 7 minutes away then let in a stupid goal. Only lost one game all year to Florida.

Club team would kill a D-3 team, D-3 is bad and basically a club team at a small school. Some good HS travel teams are better.

D-2 has some good soccer with a lot of foreign players all on scholarship. That would be interesting to see Auburn play them.

We have 3 (if memory serves) who were rostered by varsity NCAA squads at some point. I know one spent his freshman year with Memphis in D1 before deciding it was too much of a job. He's from Auburn, so he came back for school. A few others got offers for D1 roster spots, but the "job" aspect and other factors kept them from taking them. Like I said, lots of talent.
