I don't believe that is altogether correct. If in fact JJ is doing that it could cause a fissure between the AD and Gus. Don't bet on the NFL being the only thing that could make Gus leave.

I suspect there may be other factors/people behind what JJ is doing as well. He is obviously the one carrying out the decisions, but don't be to sure more powerful players are involved. Either way it is wrong what is happening if true.

Yes if any of this is true it would make me really upset. I can understand losing Gus to more money, NFL, or even him wanting to coach for his dream school. I would not be able to accept him leaving because he is treated like shite.

I would be done if that happened. But, keep in mind, we just spent 90 million on the arena, and built an indoor practice facility. We were bitching about only being competitive in football and not other sports. It coul be as simple as we are just out of cash ATM.

Sell outs at every Football game this season. I'm sure Basketball games will be more packed than usual.

We should be bringing in some dough

There's usually a lag in funds. And you have to keep in mind the needs of all sports. I could see us holding until our funds replenish.

I agree with you and you make some good points. Which is why I said if true. However, if upgrades were promised then it depends on the conditions that were also agreed upon. This could be all about nothing which is what I am most hopeful for...

Hell if I know. We are talking about a rumor, that surprisingly enough I heard a few weeks ago, that matches what ellitor brought here except with some added players involved. I didn't think much of it at the time, but this thread intrigued me because of what I was told.

I still don't know if true, but hearing it told from a totally different source makes me go hmmmm. It will be interesting to see what if anything else surfaces. I hope nothing.

I was going to start a thread regarding JJ after watching his video interview inside the new wellness kitchen. It's quite disheartening to hear these rumors during such a high peak in AU Athletics (football team being a NC contender and now Bruce Pearl leading our BB program). I believe intelligence in an athletic director and coaches is the most important characteristic to lead to success. Pearl, Malzahn, Saban, Spurrier, Meyer, Carroll, Coach K, David Marsh all seem like strong individuals, and I don't even know them personally...you just know by seeing their confidence, mannerisms, posture, etc. I don't know if JJ is the smartest person AU could have at the helm. As of late, he's made some favorable decisions, but he also got our ADept. into a bind not too long ago. Gus's success bailed him out and remember, Gus was decided on by Bo and Pat, who also seem quite intelligent.

You can maybe say I'm being judgmental, etc, but there are also results which can back my pts up.

That would infuriate me as well. I'm a nobody though.

I have to think that some of the players involved (I'm making a huge assumption here) would kick Jacobs' arse to the curb before they let his inaction or poor treatment run away the best coaching staff we've ever had. Hopefully it's all just nonsense.

We have the best facilities in the country. Could some use upgrades? Sure, but there's not school in the country that doesn't have the same issues with reserve funds. In the past 5 years, we have built a new arena, updated the ad min buildings for the baseball all team, and constructed a indoor practice facility. IF JJ is telling Gus no on some issues, it makes perfect sense that we are low on cash right now. Everyone wanted to field good teams in the big 3 sports, and that's what we are trying to do. But that will take away from football needs. Just a reality.

I agree. besides the stadium, I'm not sure which football facilities need upgrades.

No we don't, not football at least. By most accounts we are behind the other 6 major SEC schools.

Again, you're focus is on football. The AD is in charge of all sports. We have some of the best facilities in the nation. Like I said, there is usually a lag in funding when dealing with large construction projects. These projects might be on the books, but you have to wait for the money to clear. It's not as simple as some of you think.

You did not make it known in your post I replied to you were talking all sports. You only said facilities. The problems in question if what RoadRunner and Phillip Marshall if true are talking about are football specific. It's pointless to discuss the rest of the sports in this issue. If there is a yearly specific facilities budget that Jay can't do anything else with it than put it to facility use as Phillip and insiders are saying then there is no reason for him to not meet as much of the promises he made to Gus instead of sitting on that money.

Unless he is saving it for something bigger and better.

Let's be real here, if we went in the red consistently, Jimmy Rane & Harbert would bail us out.

Also, we need to make Tim Cook honorary Athletic Director. That guy has logistics and business savy. When he is done with Apple he can turn our AD into a well oiled machine

Going out on a limb here but I'd bet the culture at Apple and the culture at Auburn are a little bit different.
