I am a little uncomfortable with all the positive media I am seeing about Auburn. I guess I have that battered fan syndrome where I am afraid we will get our taints handed to us anytime we get some positive press. I love this team and I believe in them right now more than just about any other team I have watched play, but I would prefer to keep it on the DL.

It's Tuberville syndrome. Gustav will have to show us he can handle the hype (again).

Would like too see another player walk-off at mid field. If the guys took it upon themselves to kick arse over a perceived slight... Makes me wonder if they've truly been mentally on point in those games leading up to now?

I'm with you. PPAP has given me a little dose of added confidence.

Thing is we have lost two games. regardless of the current media love - our players should know they are in a dog fight this season to get where they want to go. You cannot make another mistake.

Nope, not just you.

But anytime you bring up BFS on here, the down votes cometh.

The "oh please no expectations we do best without them" is such a little-brother mentality in my view. Do you want Auburn to compete for championships every year? Positive news coverage comes with the territory. Good teams get expectations, it's that simple. And it's the team's responsibility to understand nothing is a given and they need to do their job despite everyone jerking off about how good they are.

So, no, I'm not uncomfortable.

I would feel better right now if the MSU & Arkansas games hadn't been decided by half time. Obviously that sounds crazy.

Sure, I loved the blow out, and the fact that it came so easy says volumes.

But how long has it been since the passing offense had to work a pressure situation?

We're going to reach a point versus one of the remaining opponents where the run game is relatively contained, and I hope our QB & receivers are ready to step up.

They haven't been terrible by any stretch but we've really only flexed one of our muscles the past month or so.

ETA: Defense I have zero reservations on. I just have bad dreams of some really shitty offensive play calling earlier this year that haven't quite subsided.... so I have a general nervousness around the day our run game looks below excellent.

Nope.. Auburn is finally comfortably winning games that on paper should be blowouts. This weekend is similar. Anything under a 2 TD victory is a disappointment. Recruiting has finally counterbalanced coaching.

Their selling out to stop the run.... and our leaders dropping sure passes... will cause some of that.

Never quite understood the "Woe is us!" mentality when things are actually looking up.

Of course, I don't believe in fate or jinxes or karma or mojo either.

I don't give a frick about down votes.

I actually prefer the media to keep saying we are shitty so when we step up and bitch slap a team they have to suck it. Just like all the times we have had to take abuse and hear shite from them. They don't get to jump on the band wagon now and act like they knew it was something special.

Also it is in my nature to be like Teddy - "Speak softly, and carry a big stick" so I like to see the team prove it before the world proclaims it like ole piss.

I'm fine with al the attention for the program.

I have a renewed confidence in our team.

Me expressing that confidence doesn't affect our players or coaches.

i also don't believe in jinxes, and other stuff like that. In other words if I say we will crush Ole Miss and we barely win or lose, it's not because I said we would crush Ole Miss.

The one thing I have learned is that it is up to the coaches to get our team prepared, and most importantly it requires team leadership. If you have team leadership keeping the team focused and working hard then you can do big things.

National attention is helpful to our recruiting and branding. The more the better.

I wanted to add that I am actually a little pissed this team screwed up my 15-0 Ship! prediction.

Also this. Success begets success. It trickles down through academics too... like it or not, Alabama student population has exploded and gotten more selective at the same time - primarily because the football team is so successful. People like to be a part of sustained success.

To start the season, I'm fine flying under the radar. Better to be shooting at the bullseye instead of wearing it.

However, at this point in the season, I'm fine with the recognition we're receiving. We're proving weekly that we deserve to be ranked and are playing that way.

I'm not worried about this team looking past someone or getting too full of itself.

One, Gus kept the team focused during the 2013 season and we continued to get better each week.

Two, several of the team leaders were on the 2013 team (Mon and Carl are the first that come to mind). They've "been there" and hopefully guiding the younger guys.

Three, those same leaders as well as some of the younger guys who've proven to be leaders this year were on the team last year and witnessed what happens when the hype doesn't equate to performance.

Fourth, there's a difference in poor performance due to play calling and personnel versus being too confident and not preparing properly. I don't know if I've ever seen a CGM team lose because of the latter.

Yes, Chad Kelly is still one of the best QBs in the league and it should give everyone pause. But just because our fanbase is confident doesn't mean the team isn't focused.

Finally, the 2010 season was fun, but there were some really close games. Same with 2013. In both seasons, the offense is what propelled us. If the D continues to play like it has and the O continues to progress, then this will be the first time since the mid-2000's (dare I say 2004) that we've had a team this talented on both sides of the ball.

So with that, I'm going to be confident as shite until we lose. And IF we do, I'll lick my wounds because you better believe this team will bounce back the next week.

TL;DR version
