1. We said the same thing last year
Quite the opposite last year actually. We were starting 2 unknowns at LT and RT and our LG was coming off of back surgery. This year we're the 3rd most experienced Oline in the nation.

Paul James vs Jeff Holland will be an interesting position battle.

4. Lol at anyone quoting Philip Marshall
Like Pmarsh or not he has more access to practices and workouts than any of us. For some reaon he thinks Stove is going to be a playmaker

He really should've been redshirted. If he had, he would have 3 more years. As it stands, he has 2, and is probably second team at defensive tackle.
What's the threshold to how much you can play in a season and apply later on for the season to be treated as a redshirt and get an extra year? He only appeared in 4 games last season according sports-reference.com
By all accounts the move to DT has been good and restored his confidence. He obviously has a lot of natural talent and DT fits his skill set better. If he had enough time to develop I think he has a very high ceiling there and could still lan out for us. I think he'll overtake Williams on the depth chart, so if Russell goes pro after this season then Cowart and Brown would probably be the starters next season. Two former 5*, top 10 overall recruits on the inside is a nice thought.

Disagree TT. The second ranked player coming out of high school should never redshirt. Unless he is behind a absolute stud.
He should have been better.

I am so hyped that we might see a functional passing offense this year.

It has arrived! My body is ready! The day is upon us!!!!
1. Stidham will be starter by Aug. 11, IMO.
2. So anxious to see who ends up our starting OL unit. Regardless of who it is, I think we have the best OL in the SEC.
3. Our defense, if the secondary can remain healthy, will be better than last year.

I am a big Malzahn apologist. I have stayed on the bus. But this it. Time to win. No more excuses. If we aren't playing Bama for SEC West then I'm off. I think expectations should be high with what we have talent wise and schedule. Time to get it done

TD Moultry and Kenny Britt will make the 3 deep.

Football is almost here! I'm ready for some actual notes and information about the team this year. My thoughts regarding what I've read above:
1. Like most I think we have some really good pieces on the oline, just interested to see who falls where and how quick they all gel. I think Horton is going to be a beast at guard for us.
2. I also think Eli Stove is going to be a big piece of our offense this year. He probably had the biggest impact of any freshman on offense last year. Fast, sure handed, and good on the sweep and screen. Looking for his role to continue to grow this year.
3. Really pumped about our secondary and LB's. As many have said, finding a pass rush will be key, but I like all of our starters on the dline. Most excited to see Coe. From what I've heard on Brandon Macello's podcast Cowart is at best 4th on the DT depth chart at the moment.
4. I agree with other that this has to be the year for Malzahn. Also, hope there are no surprises today like last year.

why did Truitt transfer? I really loved watching him jitterbug around with the ball

I think he wasn't going to crack the rotation in passing game, and with a healthy Malik Miller/KJ/Bubba, his touches in the backfield were limited too.
I liked him though, and wish he had stuck around.

Interesting since Davis is actually much better than Williams. It is great to see quality Lbers play again after what we have seen since 2011.

Agree with this. Davis is more physical. IF he can stay in position, he could be very good

At beginning of the year I agree. By end of season I thought Tre Williams was our best LB. Both are really good though and the fact we get to debate which guys we think are better and now who sucks more is pretty awesome

I'm with you on this one. much rather see him inside... maybe a handful of snaps at fullback

Yea, everything ive read and seen has him starting. if it was up to me it would look like this
LT James
LG Wilson

RG Smith
RT Hopefully someone emerges

It's crazy all the different combinations we could have at OL. It sounds like all the following guys could start:
Braden Smith
Austin Golson
Darius James
Wilson Bell
Casey Dunn
Mike Horton
Marquel Harrell
Prince Tega Wanogho
Calvin Ashley
maybe Prince Sammons
I could see any combo of those guys happening. Personally I would love to see an OL group of Wanogho/James/Golson/Smith/Ashley but I don't see that happening.
My bet is we start the season with James/Bell/Golson/Horton/Smith but would not be surprised if by end of the season it's Wanogho/Bell/Goldon/Smith/James. Very curious to see what that group ends up being
