I definitely believe it is legit, just saying that he clearly heard it from Addidas people and sounds like thats what he said.
In the past year, the situation may have changed, but Auburn will be happy with Under Armour if they continue to support us and give us the same quality deals.
I heard straight up from someone who is in the room with Under Armour that Auburn feels like the AAU recruiting issue is more in people's heads than anything

So if Anthony Grant is fired would they release some of their LOIs and could we snag Donta Hall?
I want another big

Pearl worked under Adidas at Tennessee, right?

As long as Adidas doesn't touch uniforms, I'll be okay with this. Their uniform designs are absolutely horrid.

Ya but Pearl isn't going to have the type of power to broker the Adidas deal because it would be more than just basketball we switch over. If we were to split up our sports, you are absolutely torpedoing our contract value.
Keep in mind that for Football our Under Armour relationships in terms of equipment design has been huge. In the past, they will essentially give us custom equipment for anything we ask for and want to try out

Where is Nino. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some insight into the equipment side. I believe he has some knowledge on this

The athletic department won't break up the apparel contract by sport. I don't see that as ever being an option whether Pearl would want that or not so I agree there.
That being said, I don't see us turning over for Adidas when Under Armour is making clear strides in all sports just because of AAU basketball.

Keep your pants on. I'll post them when I can. 1 is already in the thread by MCT.

That was a point I was trying to make.
As I tried to explain though, there are going to be a lot of business factors that determines if we stay with Under Armour. We have always gotten the UA flagship deal that overvalued us. Now that they hve Notre Dame, does Under Armour still throw money at us like before?
Adidas could be desperate enough to do just that.

Bigs AU is looking at per Skip Jansen
Torren Jones
Deshawn Freeman
Shamar Johnson (MCT already mentioned)
also a Point guard
Dominic Artis
Staff is still in upgrade mode and may take up to 3 more players

I like this idea from his style of play

Why not?

most dealers won't do it. Under Armor wouldn't give us nearly as good of a deal if we tell them they can't do out basketball team. They may even refuse. Then that gives us less leverage when negotiating with an Adidas or whomever.

Why not?
Ignoring the obvious competing interests in the AD, it is more valuable to sell the copmlete AD sponsorship. Companies will pay for exclusivity and pay an additional cost for the bundle
It is the same logic as to why you pay more for "the complete set" for collectors pieces. UA/Adidas want the whole thing, not a slice and to share

Thirdlawson, when Baylor commands the type of sponsorship Auburn does, then we can talk about splitting it.
When brokering a deal here are things that get taken into account
- Exposure (tv, news etc)
- Merchandise sales
- Program colors (it's a long explanation that I only have amateur knowledge of but trust me, it is a negotiation point)
Apparel companies would come to Auburn to get a foothold on markets that AU is a major player for in terms of sales and exposure. While not on the level of an Alabama or Georgia, Auburn is a fringe Southeast flagship program due to how big a presence we are in the Southeast. Apparel companies don't do split deals for a program like AU because it is too valuable to let a competitor have a bite of the action.
A school like Baylor doesn't have the type of presence AU does so apparel companies don't negotiate the same way
