Why do we only have one big man committed?
Because Pearl's system is a guard/athletic forward system. His ideal would be a 3 guard 2 athletic big forwards line up like he had often at UT. He rarely had a true Center.

Are we still looking for more guys in this class or are we done?
1 at the moment. Caleb Swanigan. Don't know if we have any real shot but he's a perfect example of what I mean. He's listed as a Center but at 6'8 265 he's more of an athletic big forward.

This kid plays like Bowers minus being a moron. He can play C, dribbles well for a big guy and a midrange shooting threat from the 4/5.

Basically, we aren't getting him

We are also looking at a guy from Pensacola St JC. I can't remember his name but he is 6'6 270 and will have 3 to play 3. He was a 3 star OT in football out of high school.

ETA: Shamar Johnson

Canty had 3 to play 3 right? You think he plays the 2 with TSD at point or TSD as back up point.

TSD will play point I'd imagine. Canty was great moving off the ball in the scrimmage

He'll only have 2 years of eligibility. He RSed his freshman year. I think he plays pg exclusively. He is supposed to be a very good penetrator and those are the types of pg's Pearl has used in the past.

Auburn is looking at Shamar Johnson? Lol my high school played against him a ton cause he went to Pine Forest wouldn't think he's a D1 player. Proud Pensacola State Alum here..

No on Canty's years. 2 to play 2 LINK

The plan as of now is for Canty to play the point. Pearl likes TSD at the 2 and I have not heard anything where he's changing that.

He said on his most recent coaches show that he likes TSD running the point now and that he will continue to start at the point.

Yeah I remember him being a good offensive lineman but basketball wise he was just another big guy nothing special.

Tahj is his best option right now. I could be wrong but I think the reason Pearl went with Kenneth so long is his ability to take people off the dribble. Tahj is quick but he doesn't bring the same ability to the table. I've only seen video of Canty but from what I've seen driving through traffic seems to be a strength of his. That along with Pearl already trying to play Tahj at the 2 make me thin. next season Canty plays the 1.

Seemed like Josh Langford enjoyed his visit. If we pull him

If somehow we were to pull Caleb Swanigan then Josh Langford next year we have potential to be elite in coming years

Don't believe he did. We almost have no shot at him but a man can hope

Thanks. In that case I think TSD will back up Canty at point as I still think Pearl wants Canty there.

I would think he would do something similar to whta he is doing with Canada/Tahj right now.

No reason we don't see our PGs playing other positions then rotating into the 1 spot.

I think that is what you will see, but it is tough to have TSD and Canty on the floor together a ton because they are both pretty small. One of the reasons it is tough to play TSD and Kenneth together for a lot of minutes.

Canada has enough size to play everything from the 1 to the 4 in Pearl's system.

Could be but I don't see it. All the newbies are taller and longer than TSD. He will get minutes because Pearl likes to play 10 but I don't think he starts. Canty at the point. Dunnans, Bryce, Brown, or New Williams at the 2, Purifoy at the 3, Bowers at the 4, Reed at the 5. We will be taller and longer next year so there will be no need to play kids out of position like this year.
