This guy who keeps talking about how far out the stadium is...you can get there in 15 minutes from Midtown for Christ's sake.

Reminds me of when Kramer wanted to break up with his girlfriend because she moved downtown.

Humor me for a moment, what is your route to STP from Brookhaven?

Depends on timing. I also work at the Galleria, so I've been making this route for a while.

Generally I go Peachtree to Ashford Dunwoody, split off to Johnson Ferry, go past Northside Hospital them get on 285 at Glenridge. Then I get off 285 at Northside and take a right on Powers Ferry/Akers Mill . I park at the Galleria but it also feeds right into Cumberland Blvd/Interstate Pkwy which is an easy jump into those lots by Windy Hill/Weather Channel.

Sure when all the highways are functional. My point stands that the city really needs to up their public transport game.

I mean I see how you can get there quickly with that route, and I am certain your commute isn't total shite since you're generally headed in the opposite way of most folks.

I will be honest, I haven't been to the new stadium yet but my friends who live around where I used to have said it's a real bitch to get to. They're around Emory, closer to Decatur though. That's probably why I'm more butthurt about it because when I do go back for a game, my start point is gonna be way worse for STP than for Turner.

That Marta to Braves shuttle combo was the tits.

And as for timing, Thursday/Friday night games must be awful to get to.

You think you're the only person making that point? If the city decided today that we were in desperate need of public rail transportation to the Galleria area, you are probably talking at least 10 years until something was functioning. Do you not think that efforts have been exhausted to make it happen? And why exactly would the city of Atlanta continue trying to make this happen now that the Braves are out there and would receive no benefit from helping people attend games in Cobb?

I lived in Medlock Park, a couple streets Northeast of Emory, for 5 years. The traffic in that area in general has reached critical mass. Driving anywhere is a nightmare, especially anywhere Northwest (Buckhead, Galleria, Perimeter) or West (Midtown, Downtown, Highlands).

You're missing the point here man, I'm not saying "build one rail out to the park". I'm saying expand it all over the entire area. If ATL really wants those national and international events that everyone's saying we'll get (a la World Cup), they're going to need it anyway.

I know the area well. My folks still live over that way. All the building over there *cough*Walmart*cough* is just making it worse. Lawrenceville highway corridor through to Scott needs a makeover in the worst way.

Atlanta has been getting those events for 30 years already. I want more public transit, but we already have more of it than most big cities outside of the Northeast Cooridor.

Atl game is one of those eternally butt hurt fans over their move to cobb county. There is no room for anyone to be happy about it in his mind even tho everything about it, particularly the stadium and development, is 100x better than turner field was.

Yep, they started all that as we were leaving. Hoping they build out the Clifton Cooridor soon, too. Not keeping my hopes up.

Awesome area though. We loved Medlock.

It's great, the only thing that sucks about it is you're stuck in the DeKalb Count School System, of which I happen to be a product. The corruption is astounding.

Yea, we're still in it over in Brookhaven. You just basically have to throw your hands up and laugh when it comes to DeKalb regarding......well everything really.

I'm not missing any fricking asinine points. I'm clearly telling you that rail systems are going to take years (10+). Do you realize how fricked up the city will be in the time period of construction of this mass transit system you are referring to? The time to do this was 30 years ago.

For any of you locals what is the best way to get into the stadium/park coming in from the north on 75?

input your parking lot address into Waze and follow it to your lot. Seriously.

If you buy your parking online it will give you an address to plug into an all and lead you directly to your spot. Generally speaking, though, head right down 75 and get off at Windy Hill. Or if you want to park free in Galleria area go one more exit down to Akers Mill and turn right into the lots basically.
