someone like him without some of his baggage.

1. We need a high flying offensive scheme to succeed here at Arkansas against the Bama's, Auburns, LSU's of the sec. Sure... Defense wins championships... But please list the top 100 players all time at Arkansas and I bet 80 of them would be offensive (not personally) in class. We have great RB's here or close always, we have capable WR's, we have TE's, we have big boys who can be Oline... TX provides much of this as well via the high flying offensive schemes the HS's now use there.
2. We need someone of the age who understands youth of today. I worked for many years with kids, counseled them, mentored them, took them on trips that they would have never been able to do on their own, seeing places they didn't even imagine existed. It was awesome. Yet, I found myself longing to be a Dad first and foremost. And I am. Love my kids. But no longer involved to the extent above with other youth. Understanding their culture was a huge part of the success I had. Kiffen understands their culture, the culture of today, the PR, the social media aspect. The dude just connects to the talent that we need.
3. He has been there. Tenner, USC, Bammy.. he gets what it takes to win in the highest conferences in the NCAA. He has matured a bit. I watched his interview on ESPN and saw a young man still, who gets kids, who understands the public better, but still has enough edge to push the envelope a bit.. And you know what, I love to push envelopes. I have lived my life moving the barometer a bit in all areas of my work, and life. Love being the one who changes minds, work, and directions in others.. When possible.
4. Excitement.... The dude would bring a level of excitement in our program missing since the Grinch of Offense left.

OK, who is on board?

It will probably never happen, but dang if I wouldn't be for it. Now... Norvell may be a mature LK, without the baggage.. I just don't know. Haven't followed his social media, etc... ETAL!

He’s been my first choice for awhile. I don’t think our admin would ever have the stones to hire him unfortunately. I’m still holding out hope though that someone over there will be willing to take the risk.

let me say that I am positive that "someone" over there is looking at Lane Kiffen....

Not sure how far it will go, but he has been mentioned by several in power. They want a petrino like offensive HC whom is a bit younger, and understands young ball players today.

I will see if I can find out more tomorrow. But I have definite confirmation that he has been discussed at length. Not just spitballing here. He is in the top 5 coaches being discussed for sure.

I hope you're right, just build in a buyout on his end so he can't dine and dash without consequence. Also build in huge character clauses. As of right now, I'd say Arkansas has most of the leverage, but if teams begin to scramble due to a coaching shortage in the next couple weeks, Kiffin will definetly be looked at by multiple teams and then he will have the leverage... GOBN needs to Go sign him... Now.

All in on the Lane Train!

He has been my #1 all along.

Best fit for us if we really want to be a contender.

I'm still not sold on Kiffin. I'd rather see Norvell or the Pirate than Lane. I think Kiffin spells trouble. I recall the time he had a DUI accident that was swept under the rug. Those sorts of things don't seem to turn out well here in Arkansas.

Norvel could work out or not.

With Leach, we will be a perennial 8 win team whose fanbase will split with many wanting him fired at some point.

Kiffin is a homerun or doesn't work in which he will get the blame....not the program. People will just say see we told you he would not work out.

Its a no brainer.....Kiffin.

Don't see how you're so dismissive of Leach. He had Texas Tech winning 8-10 games. Texas Tech is in freaking Lubbock. Lubbock, the a-hole of Texas. Comparatively, Pullman is the a-hole of Washington. Mike Leach is a proven, talented coach. Arkansas is a recruiting Mecca compared to Pullman.

I’d be fine with Lane but I’d also be a little nervous we hired two head coaches in a row that like to write checks with their mouths that their butts can’t cash. He would be entertaining though I have no doubt.

That was 10 years ago. Plus Lubbock might be the a-hole of Texas but it is still in Texas and he was surrounded by fertile recruiting grounds.

No guarantee he can pull the needed talent to Arkansas.

Also I don't like the idea of going full Air Raid. I think we are better off with a more balanced philosophy. Histoprically, we have always been able to recruit good running backs here.
