A final four is superior to any or many Elite 8s.

You just don't want to look at the results between the two and admit that Beard has done more than Muss.

The longest that Muss has stayed at any place is six years.

That is with all coaches, people love you when you win.

Muss isn't some likely person unlike Nolan.

He's only had 1 other college job and that was a stepping stone school. Not really relevant to this situation.

Muss (7 years)

220-92 (.705)

Conference Championships - 3
NCAA Appearances - 6
Second Round - 4
Sweet 16 - 4
Elite 8 - 2

Beard (9 years)

201-83 (.707)

Conference Championships - 2
NCAA Appearances - 5
Second Round - 4
Sweet 16 - 4
Elite 8 - 2
Final 4 - 1

Head to head 1-1

Literally the exact same excluding 1 game. Heck even their philosophies are similar.

You’d still be in here crying with Beard as our coach.

Yea

Beard got the benefit of what Bobby, Billie, and Tubby had built.

Muss had to build Nevada on his own. All he did was win.

Yep they are very different situations, makes no sense to try and pin Muss as "this is what he does" when he's at his first big time gig. No shite he left Nevada after success.

Hell to the no I wouldn't cry with a Final Four appearance and a national title appearance.

You can't be serious. The year prior to Beard joining Tech they had just made their first tournament appearance in 9 years and it was one and done. They had a losing record the year prior. Two years under Beard they're in the Elite Eight and three years in he has them playing for a national championship.

So do we give Tubby credit since Beard largely started off and succeeded with Tubby’s players?

Post tubby players Beard never sniffed 20 wins again and got out of dodge quick.

All ive ever seen Beard do, other than commit assault is benefit from others but not sustain success.

There were two players from Tubby's team on Beard's Finals team and one of them was a walk-on. The other was a center who averaged 5 rebounds and 4 points.

I don't even know why you're reaching so far to try to smear Beard. Whether anyone thinks Beard is better or not is completely irrelevant to Muss' job status here. If we go after Beard it'll be because of Muss.

I remember beard needing home cooking by the refs to beat an Anderson Arkansas team at home.

If he is a coaching mastermind he should never need the help of the refs to win a home game like that.

Walker has turned UALR around, NBA experience, alumni.

Brother, I give up. Muss is the best coach we've had since Nolan and half this board wants to run him off because this team sucked.

Beard would be a homerun hire. Had Ole Miss playing way above their potential for half of the season. Some in this board thinks he would be a bad hire.

Shite like this is why we deserved 20 years of mediocre basketball and will head there again.

I'm not sure how many people I've seen actually advocating to fire Muss. However, I have seen many people state that they'd be happy with Beard as a replacement for Muss. Those are not the same thing. The whole worry stems from him leaving on his own because he won't sign the extension offered. Idk where this whole Muss is a victim angle came from. Like I said before, if we go after Beard it'll be because of Muss.

Being in a position where you'd be happy with the potential replacement doesn't mean you want to run the current guy off. It means you have options.

Plenty here seem to be willing to run Muss off if we were guaranteed to get Beard.

I've said all along if Muss leaves it'll be on his on accord.

It's beyond hilarious that fans think Beard would leave OM to coach here.

OM would absolutely match any offer immediately.
