Collins got run down time and again last year. Weight or not, he wasn't scoring at that run

Everyone said that but he was rarely if ever chased down from behind. It was usually a safety having an angle on him

Yeah, if you could train/coach players to run a 4.20 40, every team would have a few guys capable of doing it...

You might be onto something. We do look kind of slow all around (basing this purely off on eye test)

You serious, Clark?

We have no speed in the receiver corps, and Williams (who I love) and Collins are now essentially power backs, though Williams has decent speed.

Who are you running an end-around or reverse with? Hatcher?

We used to do speed training all the time with Veltkamp. He wasn't turning guys into 4.2 runners, but we had good team speed.

We had no speed in the receiver corp outside of Wright and Adams who were on the same teams for decades...

Hatcher looks crazy slow on KO returns.

We look very big 10. We need speed badly all over. I've been saying all year the weight gain on AC hasn't looked great to me. Alex always gained yards last year and this season he's getting caught at or behind the line a lot more. Of course he's a targeted man this yr as well.

AC is averaging 6.3 yards per carry this year, versus 5.4 last year.

His extra weight isn't hurting him. He may be a little different this year, but I think it's a net positive.

edit: the only games he didn't play well in this season were Alabama and Georgia. His weight wasn't the problem in those games.

looks like Lance Ray and Maudrecus Humphrey returning kicks to me -- moving slow, might make the 20-25 and seeking out contact in the process

Still can't wrap my mind around why Hatcher is returning the ball. We finally put Duwop back there but don't let him take it.

bullshite.

Hamilton was a burner and Childs could outrun anyone we have now. Our speed wasn't limited to those two.

So petrinos one lucky instate class and Hamilton comprised all of petrinos speed?

Funny enough those were arguably the best skill players petrino ever had here. However none of those players are on the team now but players Bert is recruiting in are comparable and have pretty good speed.

Were way stronger on defense and it shows.

Really don't know how to feel about the offense. More depth will help but I don't see it turning around anytime soon.
