because Les Miles and Nick Saban had stifling defenses and mind blowing offense before they got in the SEC
I'd bet my life none of their teams AVERAGED giving up 40 a game.

It's been Pattersen/Gundy from people I know for the last 3 months

I'd be very pleased with either one of them.

Right when the presser started the title was something like: "Petersen NOT coming" and the message was "Confirmed by Petersen at the press conference that he is not leaving Boise State."

It immediately went nuclear there were about 12 immediate replies that said "Nuh uh! I'm watching! He hasn't even said a word yet!"

And then there was about 100 replies of "Oh no! I knew it! Can't believe he's staying there!" And then the huge back and forth between people saying "Look people, he hasn't said anything yet." mixed in with "Can't believe he said he's not coming! Fire Long!"

And the offenses we see today, were not seen then either.

His defense is ranked 117th in the nation. You don't get much worse than that.

I think we would see the most immediate success with Gundy. I am really hoping it's him. We would at least win the games we are supposed to win and have a chance in the big games ( just like Petrino)

Just looked and Saban gave up 30+ pts 20 times. Gave up 40+ quite a few and 50+ quite a few as well.

Miles gave up 30+ 17 times.

Are you talking individual games or season averages? I'm talking averages. When you average giving up 40 a game in a 12 game season, you suck. If we get Gundy, so be it. It's an improvement. But I just can't see getting Gundy as a HR hire.

1. Peterson
2. Strong
3. Patterson

ETA: I understand opinions are like assholes, but Gundy worries me with his complete lack of defense. Petrino's defenses were never that bad, hell, even our defense wasn't that bad this year.

I don't have this years numbers in front of me, but here you go

Miles: 4 seasons gave up 26.2 ppg
Saban: 5 seasons gave up 24 ppg
Gundy: 7 seasons gave up 26.95 ppg

Again, no schedule for Gundy this year so this is only his first 7 seasons at Okie State

So add that to his previous average and we are at what? One point more than what Miles did there?

Yea

FWIW, most coaches would see improvement when leaving OSU for LSU or MSU for LSU.

I'm not sure the best metric is how much better a coach performs at a 5 star program after leaving a 5.7 3 star program such as OSU. I don't know shite about coaching. I would go 0-12 at OSU. I might be able to go 1-11 at Bama or LSU. That doesn't make me a hidden gem.

Obviously Im hell bent on not wanting Gundy, but like I've said for a few days, if he was poised to take down Bama and LSU he wouldn't have had the issues he had with UT and OU. Arkansas is damn near a mirror program to OSU and it ain't getting any easier in the SEC West for Gundy.

Gundy has JLS type press conferences, was out coached by Nutt in a Cotton Bowl, has no defense to speak of and has ONE Big 12 championship, a feat I have little to no respect for.

OT a little, but I'm not that upset with the job Paul Haynes did this year, given the hand he was dealt with inexperience and injuries.
