Someone who can just sit on their arse for years and live off the gov't, bro. Where are you from? Mtn Home? Rogers? Ff Smith Southside? Jonesboro? Some other lily white protected sanctuary city here in Arkansas? Nice and safe. Soft and fluffy, huh? Everyone is equal. Everyone does their part and we all live in a euphoric utopia.

Unfortunately, in the real world there's an entitlements issue. And yes, those numbers are bullshite - and i dont watch Fox News (what do you watch pussy? MSNBC?) Someone can live off gov't assistance for years and make more than teachers do. Why work? Quit looking and put your feet up. It's great.

You sound young and broke and therefore i forgive you. But if you think it's fair that 52% of this country pays NO TAXES and of the remaining 48%, about 10% of of that pays 80% of all taxes. It's a joke. And sweet little white boys from Harrison like you who've probably never been out in the real world are the ones who continue to perpetuate that garbage. Hiding up in Fayetteville in academia-land is nice and cozy but it ain't how things really are. You'll see when your balls drop one day.

The people who are living off of gov't assistance is not all to blame though. Granted they are many occasions where this is true but there are some people who live in legit bad areas and can't find a job.

The problem is that due to stagnant wages and poor job creation in the past, we have created our own problem with people becoming accustomed to the entitlement lifestyle. Corporations have long took advantage of working people for longer hours and less pay instead of employing more labor.

Yep. The saying goes it's hard to find good help. I contend it's harder to be good help these days.

Yep. What's the point in working hard and being loyal when companies are the exact opposite of loyal?

They've sent our jobs to Mexico or overseas. CEO pay has gone up by 1,000% in the last few decades. Meanwhile the minimum wage would be over $20 if adjusted for inflation from the 70s.

People on welfare and food stamps are a problem, absolutely. But in my opinion the biggest drain is government subsidies that go to hand- picked corporations to the tune of billions of dollars per subsidy.

Yep. I just laugh when people bitch about fast food workers wanting $15 hour. The truth is we should ALL be making more money. Corporations have been given too much power in the labor market and have only been looking to turn record profits. The sad part is that government representatives have turned a blind eye to things going on and have actually helped corporate America while filling their own pockets.

I am hardly a socialist, though I do occasionally troll the Poli Board with "Why Swedish Socialism more or less works" just to watch people go berserk... or agree with me and then go berserk. Though the Nordic model of half the taxes raised are raised by local governments and spent in local improvements has some merit to it.

I have gone on record as saying that corporate tax rates for America are too high and we should cut them to be more in line with what other countries have. I'm very much pro capitalism...

But corporations have gotten too much of a free pass the last few decades. Be it by outsourcing jobs to other countries, or firing workers and hiring less experienced (and cheaper) people to fill those spots American corporations have done a tremendous amount of damage to the working and middle class.

I'm not saying fly the red flag and start singing the Internationale... but it might be time to break up some of the super corporations and give them a slap on the wrist when they get caught instead of a wink and a nod. No corporation should be too big to fail or have too much political power that Washington refuses to let it fail.
