Pigfeet, your definition of "Triggered" is having a different opinion on a subject than you do.
I think of myself as a Bill Clinton moderate democrat and hope that Hillary would listen to her husband more if elected.
This is a year that I would consider the pub candidate if they hadn't nominated a complete fool.
The fact that many of our lower educated citizens can't immediately see this is mind boggling and quite interesting.
There's a clear separation in opinion among the more intelligent and more highly educated voter vs the unwashed masses. Obviously it is not 100% consistent, but it's definitely there and measurable.
When 70% of southern union paper mill workers are voting for the republican candidate that wants to reduce the union workforce by breaking them up, you realize something has gone horribly wrong with our democracy.

I appreciate your reply.
The rules for calculating unemployment are bogus however, it has always grossly misrepresented the workforce.
I think what happens more is they get approval for welfare benefits of some sort and coast as long as they can.
In my little bubble things seem to be getting better and dollars are flowing easier but I'm cheery about how it's playing out in other parts of the country and the wasteful drains on our bottom line our country spends on.

Yea, I thought of that and welfare is probably a factor, but I don't think it is as big a factor in the participation rate as the baby boomer demographic which is huge and always brought up when discussing the viability of social security benefits.
I too, have almost doubled my income since Obama became President and it's not difficult to pick out multiple economic indicators that show it's going well for other Americans also.
I'm fine with people voting in line with their own experiences, that's the way democracy should work, but I fear too high a percentage of the middle class have been brainwashed by the rich to vote against their own economic self interests in favor of issues that will never affect them personally.
You could pass off the political board as the same group of 40-50 losers that post idiotic crap on there 24/7, but I see the same misguided views when I occasionally interact with the lower classes in social events, hunting clubs, etc.
The rich taking over the churches was a stroke of genius, going directly to the demographic least equipped to separate fact from contradicted propaganda.

absolutely. Religion has been a means of keeping people down and keeping them docile and satiated with very little but hope that prosperity will soon come their way.
simply a 2+2 situation.

One day, after i'm tired of running my web development business, I might seriously run for governor for the state of Arkansas. I have the gift of the gab, i'm good in front of a camera and I have a vision for the state of arkansas that the state doesn't seem to have.
Arkansas has a great strength that it doesn't fully use to it's advantage: it's dirt cheap to live there. When I moved, I was living in West Little Rock @ Shadow Lake apartments for $800 a month, 2 bed 2 bathroom. In Chanel.
Crack houses lol cost $1300-1500 in Sarasota. So the state of arkansas will always not have to worry about being in the worst part of the stats when it comes to employment, it's cheaper to hire in Little Rock than it is in Miami.
Where I feel Arkansas is dropping the ball is in it's entertainment and the state still has too much of a church vibe to it to really attract and keep growing and thriving businesses. I moved back to little rock from Sarasota, FL to start my business, because it's cheaper to live here. I could put more money in my business. The second I was able to afford to do so I ran as fast as I could to a more cultured city.
You're not going to attract and keep growing and thriving businesses if all you have to offer is hunting, fishing and rock creek church. The talent, and i'm mainly talking the tech sector as that's my sector, isn't gonna want to live here, you're not going to attract and keep growing and thriving businesses if you're having serious discussions about shutting down night clubs and bars at 2am. You're not going to attract and keep talent if you can't drink in half the state. Or if the only sports you can watch live from March (because we never make the NCAAs anymore lol) utnil September is the travelers or the naturals.
If they would just make things a little less restrictive Arkansas could be the silicon valley of the south. It really could.
1. Move Oaklawn from Hot Springs to little rock, move the meet from january to april so that it is now March until August, add a turf course, make the racing mid day / evening racing.
2. get rid of all the stupid arse state sales taxes
3. Raise regular taxes by a little bit to help improve schools
4. Ban all dry county laws
5. Give anyone starting a business in the entertainment industry or that has one in the entertainment industry a 10 year tax voucher for free state taxes to encourage growth in this sector
6. Tear down War Memorial stadium lol frick it i'm the gov

So many places in NWA are having a hard time finding skilled manual labor.
Yeh, I know. That's about the only thing NWA is lacking. I wish there were more of industrial/blue collar/skilled labor type of jobs present there.
Most kids in Arkansas have no idea how well those type of jobs pay, and believe the only way to make money is by getting a four year degree, working a white collar job, and grinding away for a number of years before making decent money. Then again, without those type of jobs in state, it's hard to know what type of money can be made.
One of the reasons why I moved to South Louisiana was to get into Ops at a plant. I also had to move down here to get a certain degree (only offered at states with a strong oil and gas presence) in order to get said job at a plant.
Lucky for me, I wound up interviewing and accepting a job offer in the energy field and I will be moving my family back to NWA within the next month
I would have never gotten the job had I not moved to South Louisiana and gotten the degree and experience. Just seems odd that a requirement of the job was a degree that isn't even offered at any in state colleges.

In Arkansas, the seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped from 4.7% in December to 3.9% in April, driven by a 2.8% increase in the number of employed residents, according to Labor Department estimates. But a separate measure of jobs that economists often consider more reliable — total nonfarm payrolls — fell by 0.2% over the same period.

Someone who can just sit on their arse for years and live off the gov't, bro. Where are you from? Mtn Home? Rogers? Ff Smith Southside? Jonesboro? Some other lily white protected sanctuary city here in Arkansas? Nice and safe. Soft and fluffy, huh? Everyone is equal. Everyone does their part and we all live in a euphoric utopia.
Unfortunately, in the real world there's an entitlements issue. And yes, those numbers are bullshite - and i dont watch Fox News (what do you watch pussy? MSNBC?) Someone can live off gov't assistance for years and make more than teachers do. Why work? Quit looking and put your feet up. It's great.
You sound young and broke and therefore i forgive you. But if you think it's fair that 52% of this country pays NO TAXES and of the remaining 48%, about 10% of of that pays 80% of all taxes. It's a joke. And sweet little white boys from Harrison like you who've probably never been out in the real world are the ones who continue to perpetuate that garbage. Hiding up in Fayetteville in academia-land is nice and cozy but it ain't how things really are. You'll see when your balls drop one day.

I had a dude come in work Monday (this was an older white male for clarity) who asked me to tell him we weren't hiring so he could use us or whatever to get his unemployment. I told him I wasn't going to say that because it wasn't true. That shite happens too often and just chaps my arse.
