Seems like Bert had problems retaining coaches at Wisky

Really makes no sense.

Pittman turned down Alabama and Saban to stay here. Something just doesn't jive about this.

Chaney wasn't going to Alabama. That's the only factor I can think of.

Assistant coaches are the biggest revolving door in football. Unless you have super deep pockets like Alabama.

Assistants have a short shelf life because if they suck then they won't be around long (fired) and if they're great they won't be around long (promoted to HC or coordinator at another school)

Yep, they must be quite attached to each others dicks. UGA just had to hire worthless arse Chaney.

If that's it, then it wasn't about the money.

He missed Chaney's musk and his fupa.

My spin is our oline this year wasn't that good and Pittmans recruiting was underwhelming more times than not.

I trust Bert's ability to hire a great oline coach. He didn't have Pittman at wisky with all his good olines there.

Agree 100%. He's shown himself to be really good at ferreting out talent for his assistants. I'm actually kind of excited to see who he can bring in. Even if he gets someone that doesn't, at first glance, appear to be a homerun (Enos), I have faith that CBB sees something there that others don't. This is an opportunity to improve, and our track record shows we'll improve here.

My main bitch is that this may leave a pallor over this final big recruiting weekend for all those recruits who are visitng. Not sure how many of them Pittman was lead recruiter on.

Just looked: only OL visiting this weekend was Juco transfer possibility Deion Malone. That doesn't mean that Pittman was even his lead recruiter, though since they don't necessarily recruit positions they coach.

Good I hope that particular a-hole poster melts hard. I hold grudges and I remember him coming on this board and saying what an embarrassment Bert was after the bama game. frick him iow.

I hate Pittman is gone, really hate it for the players too. That said, the Chaney aspect takes some of the sting away.

So apparently Kirby is just copying everything Bert has done. First Enos, now the OC/OL combo. This really feels amateurish and kind of a creepy move by Smart.

eh. our OL is one of the more praised in the nation. if kirby wants to follow the saban model of pro style, run heavy, arkansas is a good place to steal from. he was probably hoping to pull an enos/pittman combo. in the absence of that, i'm willing to bet he talked to pittman before he went to cheney and got himself a package deal.

Pittman is good at coaching, but its glaringly obvious that he can't recruit for crap.

Literally the most retarded thing I've seen on this board. Ragnow? Kirkland? Skipper? Tretola? Wallace? Merrick?

Yeah I've got to think he's trolling. Pittman's our best OL coach/recruiter in my lifetime. He definitely isn't a simple replacement.

a lot of unwarranted praise imo

most of the praise and attention they received was for being big and was based off of bert's oline reputation at wisconsin.

A source told WholeHogSports that Arkansas coach Bret Bielema and at least seven offensive linemen went to Pittman's home in Fayetteville on Friday to attempt to persuade him to stay with the Razorbacks.

I guess the players really don't matter to most of these coaches, no matter how much they say it does.
